I know that treatment for babesia is typically Zithromax and Mepron in combination. With the two together I could certainly see where a babs herx is possible.

The question is could you have a worsening of babesia symptoms from just Zithromax? Or from Zithromax and Flagyl?

My babesia test through Igenex "showed exposure" according to my doc (I haven't actually seen the results myself), so I'm presuming it's still around since I've never been treated for it before.

I started Zith 11 days ago and added Flagyl 4 days ago.

The last 2 days I've had hot flashes and chills along with on again, off again sweats. I'll lay down, cover up with a sheet cause I'm chilled, then get too warm and realize I'm sweating.

Or I'll be cold, add a sweater, be too warm in a few minutes, take off the sweater and freeze from my damp shirt.

Several times I've felt feverish, but mostly my temp has been under 98 when I've checked. I did run about 99 or so a couple of times yesterday afternoon.

I haven't had "drenching night sweats" that I can recall, but have (in the past) had months of air hunger. I've also had continuing severe headaches for years... this last week too, of course.

Just wondering if the Zith could possibly be working on the babs even without the Mepron.

Sorry you are feeling so badly.

I don't know the answer to your specific question.. but reading through the post it sounds like it could be a herx in general.. perhaps to the Lyme.

Doing Zith and Flagyl.. it is quite possible.

Another thought to consider...

Is there any chance you have been re- exposed?

I hope not.. but that could fit this description too possibly.

I am NOT a doctor.. but thought I'd add my 2 cents.. just in case.

Feel better soon PLEASE!
