From what I have read it can be very helpful but it may not be enough alone. Some of spoken with have vision problems that resolve over time.

There may be one near you that you could try.

You can find more on HBO here:

LYME DISEASE ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES

2/3 of the way down the page, under "Treatment Centers"
and "Mild Hyperbaric" you will find many links.

A naturopathic dr. I know has a home treatment that he claims gives the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen treatment at a very low cost.

Here's the deal:

You get food-grade Hydrogen Peroxide or Technical Grade Hydrogen Peroxide, and dilute it to 3% to 4% with distilled water. You can get food-grade at a health food store--usually 35%. By my converison tables, you'd put 2 tablespoons in one cup of distilled water to get to 3-4%.

Then, you need an inversion table or slant board.

Put 1 TBSP in orange juice for an adult or 1 TSP in orange juice for a child. Drink it down and immediately after get inverted on the table or slant board, for at least 60 seconds.

He says that the peroxide super-oxygenates the blood briefly, and inversion pushes it into the brain with higher pressure than usual, just like hyperbaric oxygen chambers.

2-3 time a day, is best, he claims.

I'm trying this out now to see if it will help with mental functiioning, now that I've been in treatment for quite some time. I'll let you know what happens with it.

Best,

Cass A

Where did you buy a slant board?

I use it. I did it in clinics twice and then got a home chamber. Most of the home chambers are "mild" ie do not go to the same, deep pressures of the clinic chambers. It really helps me. Julia, on here, has a genuine "clinic" style chamber in her home. She is a nurse.

I don't know if you'd have to buy a slant board--you could just put something together. I'm sure there are drawings of them on the Internet.

I have an inversion table (due to disc problems), and am using that.

Best,

I made a mild hbot VERY mild..normally one gets to 4PSI in USA,mine only to about 3.

But since the operating cost is near nothing...I have used it often...sometimes.

And I have a scope to check my blood cells...and they where all oxygenatied afterwards..

it works.

I have also been thinking about HBO recently, but there is not much research and it seems all of the ancedotal research that I have found leads me to believe HBO has a pretty high relapse rate. If anyone has more info I would be very interested.

Do a search on this site and you'll find many threads.

Upshot: I would recommend 2-3 months, 5x a week, once a day for an hour, in a hardchamber at 2.4 ata and then get a softchamber (mild chamber) at home and do that 2x a week or as needed for maintenance.

HBOT, does suppress the spirochetes but it does not kill them.

If you do it with abx it is stronger if you can tolerate that, but watch out for yeast overgrowth.
