I get headaches that are so severe I end up the ER with no memory of what happened- my fiance panics and takes me.
I remember getting migraines and vomiting but then I don't remember anything and evidently I become non-responsive, etc.
I really hate going to ER all the time. They pump me up with pain, nausea, and sleep medications, and I wake up the next day not remembering what happened.
Does anyone have any experience with this? What do you do to prevent this?

I had that for more than 3 years .YES you need to continue on treating the LYME and all coinfections.It will get better.
And you will start remmembering !!!Only the treatment long term is the asnwer....there is no short cut.

The first time I got those headaches I ended up in the ER. I really don't get them anymore since I have been treating. I used to use Darvocet at the onset. You can't drive but at least it helps and you don't have to go to the ER. I find that stress brings the headaches on too.

Have you tried any of the migraine meds... can you take them to avoid a severe attack?

I am going to ask my LLMD about migraine medications. He originally gave me presription ibuprofen, but I usually vomit that up! I vomit daily. Crappy.

Is it possible you're having some type of seizure? The migraine aura may actually be a simple-partial seizure. Perhaps an EEG would reveal some answers.

My cousin went through this and was put on Amitriptyline as a preventative. It has helped her greatly. If you can't tolerate it, Nortiptyline is similar but has less side effects and is what I am taking which seems to be helping. For acute headaches you should have a triptan on hand like Zomig, Relpax etc... Once your Lyme is under control you may not need these drugs but in the meantime I would definitely go on a preventative.
