Hi,
Two years ago, about 2 months after the birth of my daughter my heart would made a huge thud and just race. I went to a routine physical and didn't mention it (it had happened maybe 5 times in 2 month, mostly when I bent over and came back up quickly).

The PA told me that he thought I had an irregular heartrate (which no one had ever told me before and I have listened to my heart many times as I'm an RN and have a stethoscope).

I just brushed it off because besides some anxiety and fatigue I wasn't overly symptomatic with Lyme. Then a year later a doc told me he thought I had Lyme Disease and here I am. I went to a LLMD 2 weeks ago and he told me that my heart rate had some irregular beats, but not the harmful kind.

Last night I asked my good friend and midwife for my third child to listen to my heart (we are packed up and have no idea where my stethoscope is).

My heart will beat double sometimes. Like lub dub lub dub lub dub lub lub (really close together). I was a NICU nurse, not a cardiac nurse and not sure if this could just be stress related.

It generally happens only with inspiration, but not every time I breathe in. there is no rhyme or reason to it.

anyone else have this? After learning about Lyme and realizing that it can cause cardiac issues, I'm somewhat frightened.

thanks!
Ocean

This happens to me. The cardiologist said it was benign ventrical tachycardia (sp?) I also have mild MVP. It is scary, but supposedly harmless. It sometimes happens when I bend over to lift something, or sneeze, or something when I suddenly have to hold my breath (like when bending to lift).

I have discovered after 11 years, that if I lie on my left side, my heartrate will normalize much more quickly after one of these episodes.

yep, i've got that too....it feels exactly like my heart goes thunk, really hard, and then it beats very fast, beat beat klunk, thud, i mean it's wierd. i get short of breath....

my cardio called it mvp's, i think it means mitral valve prolapse or something but he says it's common and not to worry....

it seems to have gotten a little better but it sure is scary....

Yep, I have the same thing going on. Had an echocardiogram and a 6 lead EKG. I also have listened to my own heart numerous times ( I am an ICU veterinary tech).
LLMD says probably heart muscle has damage due to Lyme, probably will get a little better but maybe not.
It's annoying! Seems to be worse when I am under stress or when I am eating.

I had SVT unrelated to lyme. It was due to a congenital hearth defect. I would go to a cardiologist and get a full workup.

Better to be safe than sorry.

Magnesium deficiency can cause cardiac irregularities and anxiety.

Magnesium deficiency causes increased levels of adrenaline,
which can lead to a feeling of anxiety.

Symptoms of the cardiovascular system include palpitation,
heart arrhythmias, angina due to spasms of the coronary arteries.

I'd definately look in Magnesium.

My daughter had a heart murmur, I needed magnesium and my herbalist read the qualities of someone who was Magnesium deficient.

I needed two pills a day. My young daughter tested for 4.

Within a month, her heart murmur was gone.

Your magnesium gets used up and a magnesium deficiency can cause irratic heartbeats.

This is not medical advice just sharing from personal exoperience.

Looking into magnesium doesn't replace seeing a doctor.

Just wanted to clarify.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I do take Magnesium Citrate (called Natural Calm), but don't take it every day. My midwife listened to my heart a few days ago and this time didn't hear it (but I had started to take the mg everday for 4-5 days).

I guess with all of the heart stuff that Lyme can cause, it just scares me. I don't believe I have a congenital defect, I was in gymnastics, track, and cross country when I came down with Lyme at age 17 (but of course that was 1996 and no one in Ohio had much knowledge of it) and I never had a problem.

Thanks again, I will take the mg tonight and continue everyday.

30 day monitor and showed benign PJC's - mine were at junction, not atrial or mitral which is good, so it was "electric" in nature

but soooo annoying!!!!!!! i hate them as they scare the crap out of me

i feel like my heart has had a lot of damage due to this disease

As far as lymes- I am a newbie. Really my fiance is and I am the one doing all of the research. I finally diagnosed him!
Anyway- he also was diagnosed with PVCs (premature ventricular contractions) or "heart palpatations". Lots of work up later and many trips to the ER with panic...we tried CoQ10 and they dissapeared! Please try it! Good for you with the inflammatory issues anyway!

OK, I think I need to try CoQ10, I feel like God has been putting it in my face lately! I've been seeing it everywhere and I remember taking it when I was really sick (the first 2 years), I took so many things back then I don't know what really helped (doc's told me I had CFS).

With my stupid anxiety, I'm afraid to try anything lest it should make me 'worse' or send me into a panic attack.

I'll have to get some to try, if it helps I will be so grateful!

Thanks!
