Dear Group,

I am very new with all this. I have so much to learn. I got a positive Western Blot IgeneX Lyme Disease diagnosis four weeks ago.

I started doxycycline two weeks ago, and I take 400 milligrams, twice per day. From the first doxycycline dose, I felt a vaginal yeast infection, so I bought vagisil suppositories, and use them every day.

I also take two packets of VSL #3 every day.

Last night, I took some supplements for "systemic candida," which I may or may not have. I took 16.6 m.g. of an herb from New Zealand called "Horopito Extract." It is made by Kolorex.

I also took 90,000 CU (three Capsules of "Candidase" by Enzymedica) of the enzyme cellulase. The capsules also had some protease in them, which, with my three capsules, totaled 300,000 HUT of protease.

I also took four capsules of "Natto-K" by Enzymedica. This meant I got another 4,000 CU of cellulase and another 64,000 HUT of Protease. The Natto-K also had 4,000 FU of "nattokinase," and some amylase, bromelain, glucoamylase, lipase, and minerals.

After I took these supplements, I ate four or maybe six "Jennie's coconut macaroons" since they are supposed to be a good source of naturally-occuring "lauricidin," in the coconut meat.

After 40 minutes after I ate the macaroons and took the supplements, I got a horrible burning stomach pain.

I took "alka seltzer gold" for the stomach pain, and that helped a little, but not much.

I drank some peppermint tea, and that helped a little, but not much.

I ate a banana, and that didn't do much.

I took a "librax" pill, which relaxes the smoothe muscles of the body, and that helped enough to fall asleep.

All night, the burning stomach pains must have been present, because I dreampt about them.

When I woke up in the morning, the burning abdominal pains were still there.

As time went by in the morning, the pains died away.

For breakfast, I ate eggs, ham, sausages, and bacon, and drank a lot of coffee with cream.

After breakfast, the pain was gone.

The pain stayed away all day.

I took both doses of doxycycline today, and there was no abdominal pain, so the pain can't be from the doxycycline, I don't think.

Does killing off candida/yeast in the digestive system hurt really badly, even if the literature on the supplements explicitly states: "Kills candida with no die-off reactions?"

How much should I be taking?

What else do other people go through?

Thanks,
from Zeitgeist

Z,

Are you ALWAYS taking doxy with FOOD? Good if you are.

But there are a few other things with doxy: No dairy, (or very little) and absolutely do not lay down within 1/2 or more of taking it or it can do severe damage to your esophogus.

And do avoid any sun while on doxy or you can get severely burned (but dont turn red) from exposure. Knuckles and hands can be burned even in the car.

Read the packaging very carefully that comes with the rx.

Now about the yeast.. NO SUGAR!!! it feeds yeast.

Do you take an antifungal such as Candicyn, Fungal Defense, or something with high doses oregano or olive leaf (seagate brand is good).

I have taken Kolorex capsules and that is strong stuff!! It can be harsh. Perhaps it is ok for you.

I dont recommend cheating on diet, but if you do, I would recommend taking a strong herbal antifungal immediately in addition to your high culture/high strain refrigerated probiotics.

Steps to fight yeast:

LOW CARB DIET - a must! (including sugary fruits like bananas)

PROBIOTIC - high culture / high strain refrigerated one. You can get one from your reliable health food store.

ANTIFUNGAL - a must! herbal is good

DETOX - Excercise - sweat

ORAL MOUTH CARE - yeast starts on the tongue. Brush tongue while cleaning teeth and rinse with an antiseptic mouthwash like Listerine, it kills biofilms. Dip toothbrush in bleach and rinse well. You can reinfect yourself as yeast will grow on your toothbrush!

For vaginal irritations: mycostatin cream and vinegar & water douche gives relief

And yes, you can have die off reactions, such as bloating, gas pains, and diarrhea.

PS.. NO more macaroons!! [Smile]

You took a LOT of STUFF all at once!!! Next time, try one new thing at a time. No telling what the mixture of what you took did to your stomach.

I agree.... make SURE you take doxy with plenty of FOOD!!! [no dairy]

Die-off will more likely be flu-like symptoms or dizziness, or itching, or headaches, stuffy nose, etc.... anything that is a symptom of yeast can be a die-off symptom.

More info and diet info.... DIET is paramount!!

Bringing this back up...

Has anyone ever experienced extreme stomach and back pains and vomiting with yeast die off?

Daughter is on Nystatin, low dose, she was up all night with pain and some vomiting this am.

Pain and vomiting has stopped.

wow, hon, i thought i was only one doing this stuff!!! no seriously..

you did overdo it just a tad.

our stomachs can only take so much and you just dumped a bunch of stuff in it.

a yeast herx is, in my opinion, worse than a lyme herx. mine was crying spells, jittery, anxious, blurry vision. emotional wreck. panic attacks, etc.

i have never vomited even with lyme.

i would back off on the yeast right now for awhile and just do the doxy with food. avoid the sun too.

someone on here gave me an excellent tip about brushing the tongue with grapefruit seed extract in water, only a couple of drops. it's really helped.

look up diflucan herxes on the search and you'll find alot of information.

Could be acid, Jane. But I have had severe stomach pains which may or may not have been from yeast.

I also have Sjogren's and that is making a mess of my stomach and esophagus.
