legs, ankles, and feet started swelling(extreme) 3 days after iv pulled. This was never a problem before...

Replaced 400 mg iv doxy with 300 mg oral day after stopping iv.

Just wondering if anyone has heard of this.
I see LLMD on Tuesday-

I'd suggest heading to the ER. Like now. Go! Don't wait until Tuesday to talk with your LLMD.

Extreme swelling in your legs could indicate a DVT (deep vein thrombosis) which is BAD.

Could be something else, but best to get it checked out.

Please let us know what happens.

Thanks Betty & Curiouser-

The deep vein thrombosis makes sense... I was taking heprin daily w/ the iv.

I looked it up and the hot, red swelling fits the bill. I'm watching for the sever reaction symptoms. So far, so good...

LLMD added hydroxychloroquine to my pile of pills when I called about the swelling and it may be helping a bit. The swelling has decreased some.

I have stayed off my feet as much as possible this weekend, but I need to teach tomorrow...

I'll call LLMD in morning and get her thinking about this possibility (if she isn't already)before I see her on Tuesday.

Thanks for your replies- You helped decrease my stress and worries.

curiouser hit it on the nail...DVT blood clot!

i ended up with this after my hip surgery 1.5 years ago; should have thought of it. i was one sick old dog.

do NOT drive yourself anywhere; ELEVATE LEG SO IT'S EVEN WITH YOUR HEART.

after finally getting dismissed from hospital after surgery where they held me over 2 days, and should HAVE this time too after putting huge needle into my knee to scrape around for liquids ... they let me go.

that night i called my homeward RN as i was getting worse; she was supposed to start next am but came at 1020 pm, and we agreed it was a blood clot we were dealing with.

so please BE CAREFUL as the clots can travel fast to the heart. hubby's dad died of this 50 yrs. ago; blood clot went from leg to his heart. [group hug] [kiss]

Betty's right. This is nothing to ignore or "put off" until later.

If this is a clot, parts can break off and lodge in your lungs or brain. To repeat myself, this is BAD. It can kill you.

Get thee to the ER! Please. NOW.

Wanabee,

Please seek imediate medical attention! This sounds like it could be serious. Please err on the side of caution, call your Dr and go to the ER.

If there is a chance of DVT this is something that needs ER tx now. The ER will use ultrasound

to check circulation and tx with blood thinners

monitored very closey is required, as well as

filter placement at times. The risk of a clot

disloding and traveling a significant and will

lead to heart attack, stroke, of pulmonary

emolism. Do not bear weight, stay off extremities

and go to ER-- if clot ruled out then can

investigate other possiblities like fluid shifts

good luck

Wantabe,
Any news? Any change? What did your LLMD say? Did you go to the ER?

Inquiring minds want to know. [Big Grin]

Hope you're doing well.

wantabe,

please report in or have a family member report.

when i had my blood clot and finally went back to surgeon's office, they had tech try to give me an ultrasound starting at groin and working down.

NO WAY; PAINFUL AS HELL! when just pushing down with all my fibro pain; it was WORSE THAN SURGERY FOR ME!

i had them stop. then they kept repeating do you know how serious this is; yes; they called surgeon's office and i talked to rn too.

NOPE, they would kill me before finding the blood clot; i lived! uffda; terrible experience.

we are deeply concerned; check in for a BRIEF note back ok! [group hug] [kiss] [group hug]

Thanks all!!!!

LLMD dx as a rapid return of Lyme and friends.
Very sad after 5 months of iv and all the trimmings [Frown] just to fall hard and fast!

Swelling is much better, but LLMD is keeping close eye on it as am I.

Off to see eye doctor today to get ready for major medications and new treatments... [bonk]

THANK YOU all for you care and support!
I'll check back when more time and energy.

edited to add more...
waiting for eyes to return to normal so I can drive home- had examination because of the plaquinil added to my bag of medications

So here is the million $ question(s)... [confused] (VENTING)
Am I going to have to remain on antibiotics forever?

Why didn't the aggressive iv treatment( 4-10 hours daily for 5 months!) take down the lyme+ load more?

Has anyone else fell so hard so fast after being on ivs? I continued all other meds/sups and added doxy 300 mg oral the day after iv being pulled.

What is missing in my treatment?

What can I do???? Other then trying to keep my teaching job-my life is focused on getting better.
I want to focus on my family and have a life.

My family deserves more then what I'm able to give them..."I don't remember you not sick Mom," 8 year old daughter shared the other night [Frown]

just sad and disapointed at this point- thanks for listening [group hug]

wantabe,

thanks for update on yourself; i have NO experience on ivs, so will bring this up for those with ivs!

my 11 year old niece said about the same thing as your daughter, [group hug] [kiss]

"Mom's been sick my entire life"! my niece was 2 yrs. old this 1st time!!

my sister was 32 when she first got breast cancer, 2 different types. had chemo/radioation; declared CANCER FREE.

6.5 years later, cancer reared it's ugly head and was in her liver; we had her for 2 yrs., 1 mo., and 3 days.
