Anyone use/heard about Iodoral, which I believe is iodine?

Yes, my holistic doc presses it big time. It's Iodine / Iodide combined (5 mg / 7.5 mg). it's about 100x the recommended FDA allowance for Iodine!

He swears it's the best thing since sliced bread. I personally am nervous about the amount and can't mentally get myself to take it. He wanted me to take two 12.5 mg tablets per day. Some people take 4 to 8 tablets!

I've taken it regularly for a time. The body will only use what it wants. In Japan the eat sooo much seaweed, they eat much more then one iodoral.

It is great for getting rid of halides you don't want. Such as chlorine from tap water, or flouride again from tap water and anything bottled, toothpaste if you swallow any. Bromides from bread -- look at the ingredient for bread it will say bromenated or something like that.

So what are these halides : in the concentration we are given they are poisons. Iodine chelates the halides out of the body. We all need the high doses so our bodies can normalize with the right amount of iodine. These halides do accumulate into the body and bones on and on.

Iodine also helps mercury out of the body.

So my advice, take the iodoral it will help not only get rid of these poison but it will help stimulate your thyroid so you have more energy.

If you want to be sure, get a biotensor and trust it.

I'm taking it ... it took me awhile to get up to two pills, as the halogen detox (for lack of a better term?) I think was pretty strong. Headaches and insomnia.

So I'm taking 2 pills a day now and doing just fine. Hard to say how well it's working since I'm taking other things but I agree definitely with everything said above by Lymie in md and that's why I'm taking it.

I take (4) 12.5 mg per day with no problems.

The thing I noticed the most is that it took away the soreness in the breasts. If I stop it comes back.

I am thinking of swithching to liquid kelp as it is a lot less expensive.

Yep, I take Iodoral. Have for a couple years.

Was only taking one, but my new LLMD told me to up to two a day.

It doesn't chelate other halides, it displaces them, and since it enhances thyroid function and stabilizes metabolic rate, it helps the other detox organs (kidneys, liver, skin) do their things with the displaced halides. a common symptom of people who start supplementing is acne, as the skin starts getting rid of all the toxins. Deficiency is associated with fibrocystic breasts, ovarian cysts, breast cancer, and thyroid disease (hyper and hypo). The US RDA was set years ago when the soil that foods are grown in had a much higher content, not so now, unless you buy from local farmers who practice organically and fertilize their farms properly.

I have heard of that, the trick is to intoduce iodine slowly; start with sea kelp capsules, one per day then titrate up by one capsule every few days, when you are up to 10 caps per day you are getting around 1500 micrograms, or 1.5 milligrams of iodine, then if you take 1/2 of a 6.25 iodoral, you are getting double the iodine of the 10 kelp, and after 2 weeks of this go up to a whole one. Then you can double your dose every 2 weeks or so to a total of 50 mg of iodine per day. If at any point the gerd symptoms reemerge, cut back to the previous dose and stay at it for a longer period. Also, it's not enough to just replace iodine, you need to identify where other halides might be coming from, so if you have a hot tub, you may be getting bromine or chlorine from the water treatment. If you drink mountain dew for that extra caffeine boost, you are crashing later due to the brominated vegetable oil used to keep the citrus flavor suspended in the drink...so many dangers out there.

bringing this up -- doc mentioned this today. is it constipating? will it help increase my lowish T3 and T4 scores (TSH is fine)?

I have the same question as CD- does it raise free T3 and/or T4?

up?

Yep it certainly does bring up free T3 and free T4! I had a that problem. My thyroid levels were slowly decreasing and finally my free T4 and free T3 were out of range (a bit too low). I still let it go and then my TSH was out of range (too high).

My LLMD wanted to put me on thyroid meds but I wanted to try iodine first. So at that point I started using Lugol's iodine.

I was too nervous to take it internally so I started out painting a circle of it on my arm. I have been doing every other day and sometimes even skipping a week here and there.

Well the last couple times they checked my thyroid levels looked fantastic! My docs couldn't believe how well I reacted to the iodine.

My free T3 and free T4 etc are all in normal range and at very good levels now.

So I am going to continue with what I am doing. Hopefully this is all I will need.

Oh and no constipation for me from the iodine.
