My question is what happens long term when Lyme disease hits the central nervous system? Can you repair the damage to the spine are brain ?

I have been on the IV meds for about 3 weeks now with no big improvement are any herx at all though today my legs are killing me and have swollen lymph nodes in neck and do not feel that good.

At first they though it was MS some docs still do but i was positive 5 bands on western IGG blot.

Right now i have doctors told me i have " Hyper reflexia, clonus, spastic, some memory loss, and starting with numb lips and chin, haedaches ALOT.

But can these problems that are due to the spine damage can that go away with treatment for the lyme.

thanks all
mike

Yep, it can go away...

if you're treated properly. Are you seeing a mainstream doc, or a

doctor who follows the guidelines of the International Lyme and

Associated Diseases Society? If you're not seeing the latter, you

need to find one now--99% of doc have it all wrong when it comes to Lyme. Educate yourself here, find a good doc, and you'll have a chance.

Three weeks is prime herx territory. Are you sure your symptoms currently are not herxing?

Yes, you can get better. However, the outcome depends a lot on how soon after the bite that the treatment started and whether it is continued long enough.

If you continue to have symptoms after the treatment ends, you will know that you are not seeing a truly lyme literate doc. There is also the possibility of coinfections.
