anybody heard of deer tick virus and encephalitis.
there is a girl over on general that is paralyzed with a positve lyme test. she has a twin that is healthy
and nobody can treat her correctly.
i found this article that i always theorized existed but never saw proof that dt carry viruses.

Hey hey Dave...

Yes, ticks can carry a number of viruses.. and if the funding allowed, my bet is they would find even more than what is now known.

You may remember we've had a few folks infected with West Nile and Lyme here, actually several in our our mid-Atlantic neck of the woods.

West Nile is one of the flaviviruses.. and flaviviruses are known to be carried by ticks (mosquitoes, etc). They (flaviviruses) have actually been around for centuries and have caused many deaths (to put it mildly).

Saying "over at LymeNet"... well, I don't know what you mean? Is she posting in the General Section? Sorry you've got me confused, which isn't hard to do at all! HA!

I'll be happy to post back to the "girl" you spoke about... if you think it might help in any way.

I sure hope she does manage to find a good doctor, soon!

Please advise as to what we can do to help.

Hi, TC - it's Alex we're talking about, in the Alex Hermstad post in General. Trying to figure out what can be done for her.

I've heard of TB encephalitis in Europe. Can it do what Alex is going through?

mike seems adamant about using Dr. K.

hope they find something soon before she expires.
very bad situation.
any doctor can consult across state borders using
medical records, just can't prescribe.

betty have they run a lumbar puncture yet.
i'm sure they have and some of the information
they talk about i am unfamiliar with.
it seems that whether or not it is als is
irrelevant and treatment should go on till the very end. something must be tried!!!!

lumbar puncture .. unsure; i went back and read some of mike's note on diagnosis, etc. but didn't see this mentioned.

i do know everything that has been tried is posted in alex's journal notes on caring bridge site.

i wish someone would drop the ALS and move on.
