I feel awful - nausea, fatigue, and flulike malaise. I had been functioning 85% and returned to work in August.

Since Thanksgiving I've been eating chocolate and sweets, something I hadn't done for a couple of years. I was busy shopping, visiting friends, parties, etc. I don't drink alcohol, btw.

However, my hubby came down with a bad chest cold. I don't have his symptoms, but I feel like I'm having another relapse. My last relapse was in April.

I return to work Jan 5th. If I don't, I lose my job as I was off 2 years on medical disability. They will only hold my job so long.

My LLMD is out of town, and when I called they told me to just go on the ceftin I had left from a previous RX. I had stopped it when I went on the Flagyl. I was only taking Flagyl 1/4 pill twice a week and nurse said that wasn't enough.

I'm thinking I have babs, too, although I don't get headaches or sweats anymore. This Lyme relapse is sending me over the edge.

Any advice out there? Is this the way it's always going to be? I've been treating for a year. I can't tolerate most meds, like zith, malerone, & plaquenil. Doxy and Ceftin are ok.

What do you do when you relapse? How do you get over it quickly?

sorry to hear that you are not feeling well.

Relpases are hard, more emotionally than anything else i think.

Just the basics, drink plenty of water, detox teas. lots of sleep and rest. limit visitors, outtings, and stress (good luck!). clean up your diet.

Let yourself have a good cry, 24 hours of self pity. then re focus on rersting and getting strong.

Thanks for the encouragement, dmbfan. I had my cry yesterday. Today, I'm looking to fight and researching things that might help.

Has NO ONE EVER told you "WHITE POWDER WHITE DEATH!....

If you know about lyme and or a yeast condition from the abx....

THEN YOU HAVE GOT TO REMEMBER to CUT OUT THE SWEETS....YES....PROBABLY FOREVER!

WHAT....ya want to get diabetes too.....like me!


Look dear....leave the sugar alone!

Detox it now and do like your nurse says....

You probably just gave the cheetes and "MS YEAST" what they "CRAVE"....and they're letting you know it by making you feel like dirt!

or like you want to be under it!

no cafeine...no sugar....ya know....lyme 101 stuff...

you'll feel better after the sugar gets out of your system....

Good advice above. I ate lots of sweets + am now in bed with a swollen knee !

Sugar can lower the immune system. It actually can immobilize white blood cells. I saw a demonstration of this once under a microscope at a health fair.

Cheryl, the holidays are tough on healthy folks. But healthy folks are able to rest, rebound and precede with life.

Even though I did eat some bad goodies, that's not the thing that has me slammed. Socializing, doing more than normal (shopping, wrapping, money and very minimial at that) is what gets me every year.

No amount of sleep or rest will help me anytime soon. It's a process that takes time to build myself back up to normal (as normal as I can get after 9yrs).

Only the chronically ill can understand, just how hard holidays can be on someone.

Hey CherylSue,

I haven't atained the wellness required to have experienced a relapse yet.

But I just have a thought that even after I attain that wellness, I'm going to treat my body like the temple that it is.

A little goodie here and there is fine, but you would probably do better by eating clean during the week and cheating a little on the weekend.

J;ust the poopy reality of things. I'm not saying that what you were eating put you in the relapse.....but probably the combo of goodies, holiday stress and no rest.

i have been in remission 2 years but have little
knocks in the butt.
my cocktail is:
Zitro 500mg bid
plaquenil 200mg bid
acyclovir 400mg bid
vfend or diflucan bid
for 10days then quit completely
usually after 3 days i'm better.
this is my cocktail and is specific for me
had bb 15 yr babs ?yr

Thanks, everyone, for the great advice. I held off on sweets for a long time, but once I started feeling better I cheated (Thanksgiving), and I was like a junkie looking for a chocolate fix. It opened the floodgates.

That, and the fact I was pushing myself through the holidays, etc. landed me in bed for a few days. This morning I was so ill, but after another round of ceftin I'm starting to come out of it.

It's nice to know that there are "cocktails" to pull us out of this. Thanks for sharing that. I'll have to find my own mix.

Yes, tonight I was thinking that this disease is somewhat like being a diabetic- one really has to be in control of things. Sometimes I'm in denial, but I guess I really should make healthy eating and sleeping a habit no matter what. I'm not what I used to be, and that can be so frustrating, as you all well know.

Thanks for all your support. This would be a lot harder to manage if it weren't for you all!

Things are not getting better but worse. Went to work 1/2 day yesterday, but had to come home. Woke up last night with burning skin. No energy.

I think I'm coming down with a cold now after getting over a stomach virus.

I've only been back to work since August. I had been on disability leave 2 years prior.

Good chance I'll be forced to leave, as they can't hold my job anymore.

LLMD doesn't like to give disability because he only sees me a couple of times of year. My local will, but the doc at Rush in Chicago who signed off as the second doc left the area to move East.
I need two docs to sign, or no disability income.

I love my job and was so happy to be back. My body can't help it after 8 1/2 years of remitting/relapsing CFS/Lyme.

Any suggestions?

Hi CherylSue,

I experienced an onslaught of symptoms over Christmas. The airlines had lost my luggage and I was without my vitamin/mineral supplements for three days. Once I got back on the supplements, things started settling down.

It seems that different things work for different people. I've worked to find a way to deal with Lyme naturally and affordably It seems to me that one should start with a good vitamin/mineral supplement and build from there. I do have symptoms, but none debilitating.

Find a GOOD vitamin/mineral supplement. It sure is worth a try.

my holidays were extended til yesterday...

changes if food, meds, supps emotions-everything

today i really got scared---could NOT get out of bed til 11:30...felt like i was back in my full blown lyme days.

got up-eating right, supps right, slow on abx but a little extra anti inflam stuff...

moving slowly-but definitely better pain-wise

try to get back on the program...esp no sugar, low bad carbs

good luck

(my history is i was out of work 1 1/2 yrs after car accident and was forced to go back early or would lose job. i did it. i'm not sure how. i was very creative in hiding the illness-learned NOT to talk about it at work...adapted and modified everything so i could do job...basically worked and slept-not much of a wife or mom at thet time. i lasted 11 yrs-then an accident at work totaled me out...but 4 yrs later i am still fighting workers comp)

i did get disability cuz xrays showed arthritis

Thanks, everyone. No, yeast doesn't seem to be a problem. Fighting a stomach virus, and now a cold virus is. I've been taking lauricidin pellets per my LLMD's nurse, and those pellets make me feel worse. She said everyone in his office takes them, and he gives them to his kids. I know he has mentioned them before to me.

When the sun went down this evening, I got worse. Normally, I feel better.

I'm also taking EmergenC, Vitamin D, fermented wheat germ, and Epicor.

My stomach virus wasn't that bad, just fatiguing and annoying. The nausea pretty much went away. My regular doc says it takes 2-3 weeks. It's been 2 weeks for me.

Hubby has a bad chest cold. My body has been trying to fight it off. I find that my colds don't get full blown, but last a long time.

I'm taking this week off from work. I made it just a 1/2 day yesterday, but it made things worse.

I'm so tired of relapsing. Things just get worse. EVery relapse takes a little more from me.

Will I ever recover? Is it possible? Do I need to quit my job?

Does this happen to you? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

cherylSue rethink the Vit D....I am def aswell in this but it acts like a steroid in the body..

there is some good info on this if you look around. hope you are better
