ok, like I said in other posts, I have been sick with bronchittis for 3 weeks. So, finally, I got a hold of the PA in my llmd office. But, before I spoke to her this morning, I was sooooo angry with all the quacks I have seen this past week, who would not give me any abx, so I just took a 600 mg of zithromax I had laying around which my llmd perscribed for me in treating lyme.
BUT, when I spoke with the PA this morning, she told me levaquin is stronger and will kill sinus infection, and upper respiratory. So, she perscribed 10 days worth of levaquin, which I have used before to treat bart.
So, now I am feeling better with that one tab of zith I took this morning, my question is, do I continue using the zithromax since I am feeling better, or do what the PA said, which is take the levaquin for 10 days? The culture swab they took for strep test has not come in yet, it will be ready Friday, so I don't even know what that will show? But, I am hesitatant to go on my own, and not do what the PA told me to do. I just don't want to feel worse taking the levaquin.

All I can tell you is that when my son was in the hospital with severe pneumonia last winter he was on IV Levaquin for a couple of weeks.

I believe it's the drug of choice for that type of infection. I have a friend who was also hospitalized with pneumonia and when I checked her IV bag...you guessed it! She was also on Levaquin.

Sometimes we can take abx and feel better quickly, so we assume we are fine, but then the infection can come back and get us again.

I would go with what your LLMD recommends. He knows you and your history better than the quacks who wouldn't even rx anything to help you.

Hi Jenin,

I agree in that I think you should take what the doc prescribed. Hope you feel better soon.

Today is second day on levaquin for this chest/throat problem. the strep test came back negative, but I am still taking the levaquin. I don't feel as good as the first day I took the levaquin. Yesterday my chest had no pain, but today, i feel some pain. How long should I give this abx to work?
