IMHO, I think it definitely can either exacerbate or create new symptoms...Metal fillings are known as amalgams, and they are ~50% mercury by weight. Dentists have been saying for better than 160 years that the filling, once hardened, is inert and stable, but there is alot of evidence that this is not so.

Go to www.iaomt.org and check out the videos in their online store.

If the amalgam is giving off mercury vapor, then your liver is using up all its glutathione to try to detox it, and that takes away its ability to detox other things and I think it impairs the hydroxylation step that converts cholecalciferol into 25 hydroxy vitamin D, which becomes an important hormone necesary for repair and maintenance of tissues and production of enzymes involved in many different internal processes.

My dentist (a member of the IOAMT) says that root canals aren't recommended procedures for Lyme patients as they can cause problems. I wish I could remember the details, but alas, I am a Lymie.

You may want to see another dentist (you can find one at the site listed in above post) for a second opinion just to be sure.

If you want to read about root canals - go here:

I had my root canal teeth removed recently along with my amalgam fillings.

Having amalgam fillings takes years of having them to become and issue. So, im not sure that the one amalgam is doing any problems although they are never good to have.

However, The root canal you just got can be causing the problems you are experiencing.

Its advisable to never get root canals especially when you have a chronic illness.

Root canals basically are dead teeth which the root has been replaced with a filler. That filler is a toxic substance in itself and can make you ill.

When you have that dead tooth in your mouth it creates a toxic environment for bacteria to harbor be created. This can make you ill alone...but having lyme or any other bacterial illness furthers this problem.

All this can make you ill and it is advisable to get that root canal removed immediately.

I hope you will do a little reading and understand the dangers of root canals.

Good luck,
Joe

I have been wondering if a root canal might have had a part in my ill health. I never really went to the dentist much but in 2006 I had terrible toothaches that I got fevers from so I went to the dentist and had a root canal done, one month later I had a severe flulike illness and my life was turned for the worse ever since.

Maybe this opened the door for something else I quess I'll never know but i am looking to remove the rootcanal with a proper dentist that knows how to clean out whatever else is found in their after removing the tooth. Does anybody know of a website or the type of dentist that could do this for me?

Mike

I just wanted to add that one of the first questions my LLMD asked me was if I had any root canals (I have one). He said people with Lyme do not do well with root canals. He wanted me to see a "Structural Dentist", but my daughter has been too ill for me to follow up on this yet.

so now what ?,

the root canal was done and a false tooth with an inner metal of some type has been put in place for good.

i told the dentist that i seem to get headaches and the tooth hurts, he did an x ray and said all was fine.

though all this was right before by lyme issues as such was never brought up.

should i have a dentist same or other remove my false tooth which has been replaced ???

please advise.

thank you.

eric - one of the root canal teeth I had removed and cleaned up recently, was originally done over 15 years ago.

It remained infected and when I finally had a biological dentist remove it and clean it up there was a cyst all the way up in my sinus from the area always having remained infected.

I went back to the dentist who did the original root canal many times, telling him the tooth hurt. He always said " it can't hurt, the nerve is gone".

If you read the attachment I posted earlier, you will see that that it involves more than the nerve.

Find a good biological dentist in your area that knows about amalgams and root canals and have it taken care of. Better to do it now than wait until it possibly creates a bigger problem.

This is just my opinion and my experience with how these "supposedly safe" procedures interfered with my health over the years.

So what about tooth implants?

Faith:
When my tooth died and I had it removed at first I was very reluctant to get an implant. I wore a "flipper" (basically a retainer type thing with a tooth on it) and it was a total pain in the butt.

I decided to go with the titanium implant and I am so happy with it. It takes a few months as you first get the implant then you have to wait 90 days for it to heal up. then they do an impression and fit you with a crown. It looks and feels great.

That dang tooth gave me so many problems over the years I was afraid that an implant would be too invasive. Once the tooth was finally gone my issues disappeared. I do have a good dentist who belongs to the IAOMT - I think that's very important.

I had an implant done a year or two ago - I can't remember! At times I have pain in that area for very short periods of time - less than an hour usually just minutes. I also have pain in other jaw areas, so I wonder if it's all connected to my sinuses?

Well I had contacted my original Dentist and explained to him that even though about 5 months have passed after my Root canal,
and the Tooth with an Inner Metal he had put in,

I have been having Headaches On and Off and Toothaches as well, all in that ver same area, especially when food gets stuck there.

They then contacted the lab that had actually made the false tooth for them, and they said that Mercury is no longer being used.

They still offered for me to come in and they will look at it...

But all they would do is an X ray as they did before which would once again show the Dead Root.

So seems that there I may not get anywhere...

Dont know what to do >>???

Hmmmmmmm

[confused]
Any thoughts ?????

My understanding is that any time the body experiences a major trauma- dental work, car accident, etc. ( mine happened after a botched spinal tap) that your symptoms get lit up light a Christmas tree.
True?

Eric,

I had a root canal done abt 6 weeks ago. I felt a little strange when I got home and remembered reading here abt something in the numbing shots they use, not agreeing with us.

I got home and took charcoal caps for a few days to help with getting the numbing agent out of my system. It worked very fast. I have had no problems since, with symptoms flaring up.

Perhaps your cap is a little higher or lower then the original tooth. That may be whats causing the headache and pain. The dentist can file it a bit and see if that helps.

I had to have that done with mine, because my bottom tooth was a bit crooked and the impression wasn't exactly right, so the new top one was hitting the bottom one wrong.

Just my experiance. Hope this may help.
