all right, so in the past 18 mos with my lyme and babs and myco active infections, i have gotten really grey. not that i care too much- but wow it is kicking in fast. all of a sudden, in the last week, i developed 3 or 4 grey whiskers even. i know stress does this, but can bugs?

I started greying at my temples pretty fast when I started going downhill with Lyme.
I had one or two grey hairs when I was 18 though, too, so I'm not very keen on blaming grey hairs on aging - more likely a microorganism is somehow involved.
I've also noticed the hair along the base of my head is growing in wavier. Now THAT I don't mind at all;)

I can't say it's from the lyme. I've had lyme for at least 2 decades (and, no, never was able to get treatment from a LLMD or with the abx treatment course due to that not being available in my state and the state of my bank account kept me from finding LLMD elsewhere).
I'm 55 and have about two grey hairs - that's all. I look about 10 years younger than I am, too, not just due to hair.
I have taken various herbal supplements for nearly 20 years (as prescribed by NDs or L.Ac.s)
Some of those may be keeping the grey away. Or not. But I find it unusual when everyone else my age is half-way on their way to grey. I would not mind a little natural high-lights, though.
Look at Phil Donahue, Heloise, and many others who turned solid silver in their 30's, even. Many very healthy people have lightened up at a young age and they still look fabulous.

I'm going grey pretty fast.
I'm never sure what to blame it on; genetics, illness, or parenthood.
I have 2-year-old twins and a 4-year-old. Twins alone will make most people turn white, I believe.

I wouldn't doubt it.
I think I've had Lyme since I was a kid or a teen and I found my first grey hairs at 19.
I stopped dying my hair over a year ago and I'm almost white in front but pretty dark in back. I'm 49, though.
It seems like being sick in general or any type of stress can cause this.

thanks for the replies i just turned 38 but look about 21...aside from the rapidly spreading grey...and the exhausted looking puffy eyes.
well, the lyme/etc has given me some acne, which i never really have had, so maybe things are balancing out!

I doubt the lyme itself would, but I could see it being from our bodies being ill and our immune systems being compromised, and being just completely stressed out all of the time.

yes, i don't know either, but i've been SNOW WHITE since 30 plus but colored my hair until i reacted from the chemicals and couldn't take it any longer NOR TERRIBLE SMELLS!

I started turning grey in my late 30's. At the time I thought I had fibromyalgia. Didn't know it was lyme. I've been infected since I was 5 years old so have had it for many decades.
I started a protocol for fibromyalgia that uses guaifenesin. One of the first things I noticed was that my hair was coming in much darker!!! I'm not the only one either. Over the years, other people on guaifenesin have also mentioned that their hair came in much less grey.
At one of the Euro conferences, an LLMD apparently said this about guaifenesin:
"Guai treats a feature of the bodies reaction to the infection, which is actually Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (i.e. ATP or "energy") which is blocked from exiting the mitochondria translocator protein (the energy generating part of the mitochondria wall ) because there is build up of breakdown products of the immune system attack on borrelia and other bacteria which includes the bacterial DNA, cell walls, oxidative stress products."
I doubt there is any scientific validation of this but I wouldn't doubt that the LLMD could be right. I've had at least 2 doctors tell me that they think guai works because it is a detoxifier. The originator of the guaifenesin protocol for fibromyalgia thinks that excess phosphates (a normal body constituent) causes fibro and guai helps reduce these excess phosphates. It is all controversial but guaifenesin definately made a difference in my grey hair.
One can't just take guaifenesin though, there is a specific protocol and it is very difficult and can cause a lot of pain initially.
I also think that gut health/digestion or lack of good digestion may also be a factor.

In my case, reducing/clearing lyme reversed the grey hair I was getting. I believe it may reverse other age-related ailments for awhile also. Some form of energy practices may help (keep the energy moving upward). And there is another product that may also help with greying hair called geravital (sp?). This came up in some recent research on benefits of procaine.
I agree that parenting may be another obstacle all of its' own!

I had a bad fall health wise. At the end of Nov. I quit taking all my abx's and supplements. I also had cataract surgery in Dec.
My blond hair now is getting 'silver highlights' and my skin seems like it aged 20 years in 1 month (Dec).
Since starting again on my supplements I can definitely see my skin looking better.
When I saw my LLMD last week I noticed her hair only has a few streaks of gray whereas a year ago she was definitely going grey. I'll have to ask her what she did to make the difference.
I think it all has to do with the fact of our bodies getting or not getting the nutrients they need and also the state of our health issues.

NO!! It's hereditary.
I'm almost 58 and you would be hard pressed to find a grey hair on my head. My mother had NO grey hairs until after age 60.
I've had Lyme almost 90% of my life.

I don't know about the grey, but I know iron is supposedly important for hair. If you have babs, iron stores may be depleted. This may be more responsible for shedding as opposed to greyness though...
