Something I've been wondering the past few months.

Has there been any kind of study done concerning Lyme and its coinfections versus Tourette Syndrome?

Or whether Tourettes has been confused with Lyme?

Just been on my mind, as I have had what I think is TOurette Syndrome most of my life (it started in 2nd grade).

I have never been officially diagnosed with TS because my parents knew nothing about it, but assumed my tics were just me being silly or trrying to get attention.

In fact a couple times my dad would mimic my tics to show me how stupid it looked. I'm not really bitter or angry with my parents over it anymore; just them not understanding a neurological issue.

But it just has me thinking, and maybe I should say something to the LLMD when I see him? [confused]

I would.

I searched Tourette's syndrome and Lyme disease

And there are published reports of young children

Being diagnosed with Tourettes' only to have a positive Elisa and IgG later.

Symptoms resolved with antibiotics.

It certainly cannot hurt your diagnosis and prognosis.

It may just be another piece of the never ending puzzle

That we all piece together about our mysterious ailments, illnesses and Lyme diagnosis.

Oh almost forgot.

Curse words are often associated with Tourettes'.

Non-voluntary of course.

I have had Tourettes all my life.
So I retreated into the forest to hide and there I met ticks and got lyme!!

That is the connection !!!
I am still alone I spent the day out on the ice on a lake in a nature resurve ice fishing.

HEY!!! I can shake and shiver bigtime there and anyone who sees it thinks i am shivering from the cold!!!!!! COOL!!!!!!! HE HE

I don't know, but my 13 year old son very convincingly tries to tell me he thinks he has Tourette's every time I overhear him swearing like a sailor at his video games......

Oh, and yeah, he has Lyme....

After I came down with CFS (supposedly) and thought I had that for 8 years...my son developed tics...like rolling his eyes, twirling his hair, shaking his head..e.tc. He had also had symptoms similar to mine...such as tingling in hands, complaining his hair hurt, his hips would hurt...etc. He had also had a strep infection around 7 or 8 years old. Looking back on it I can't really determine the sequence of it all.

Look up PANDAS and maybe strep along with it... and you'll find some info on this subject. So....after the fact when I learned I had lyme...I often wondered if he had lyme or mycoplasma. He is fine today (an adult) and seems to have grown out of the other habits
