My 17 year old has missed abt 2 wks of school now because of pain in his eyes. It does hurt more if he touches the eyes or if he moves the eyes from side to side. Saw opthamologist last week; nothing found out of the ordinary... but will be calling them back with more questions.
He has babesia duncani, lyme and bartonella. Current meds are cipro, rifamprin and pulsing artemisinin.
Nothing changes the eyepain--- we have tried ibuprofen, tylenol w codeine, mobic (meloxicam)... Anyone have any success with anything??

has you son been treated for hyperthyroidism and especially GRAVE'S DISEASE of eyes?? my husband has this, and UNDIAGNOSED lyme that has turned into advanced parkinson's and SEVERE rolling hand tremors...non-stop.
too bad you weren't in NJ; i'd send you penn. llmd/eye specialist info.

People seeking doctors might be able to get help from their state online information and support group. Nearly 3,400 people belong to state groups. Some of the groups are small but more than 20 of them have 50 or more people and seven have over 100.
The groups are moderated and you have to apply. Most don't allow doctor names, but once on the group, you can ask for doctors in a certain area and ask people to email you privately.

My headaches and eye pain were greatly improved with Methazolimide or Neptazane. It is actually a Rx med used for Glaucoma that helps to reduce the inter cranial pressure that we can experience with these diseases.
Many docs are not aware of this off label help for us, so you have to ask for it specifically.

Yes. My similar-sounding eye symptoms were immediately relieved by drinking mangosteen juice, an anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant juice. Within one hour of starting it, the eye pain diminished.
There are lots of brands in health food stores, online, and strongest sold multi-level(xango). I drink the Ultra mangosteen version with 70 minerals added.
If you try it, go slowly and drink a lot of water also, as it can be powerful.
Also, before I tried the juice, I too had gone to an eye doctor and passed all his tests.

I use Diamox and want to try Methazolimide/ Neptazane.

i had this as major symptom. gradually got better when was on doxy (200 mg twice daily, ceftin 500 mg twice dialy, then cipro was added one month later)
started all the usual supps as well including daily b12 injections and zyflamed (for inflammation)
was very relieved for this to go away, would want to just pop out my eyeballs!!! hurt very bad and narcotics did not help that pain.
doxy, ceftin, cipro was my first go of abt with my LLMD. my neuro gave doxy with lyme dx and scheduled appt iwth LLMD once found out all this involves.

It could be a simple as dryness to the eye, although this doesn't fit the typical pattern. With all of the inflammation disregulation that occurs with TBI the surface of the eye, and it's tear-making ability can be significantly impaired. Pain is a consequence. Try a good artificial tear like Systane or Optive or Theratears. If he notices some (maybe not all) relief, you know that you're on the right track. It cannot hurt to try this, and may help. My suspicion is that since the Ophth didn't find any overt surface disease that this may be subclinical. Mine is/was.
