Has anyone tried polygonum cuspidatum or stephania for bartonella treatment? What kind of herx symptoms did you get? Any success? How long did it take?

I'm just starting and feel like I kill tons with the tiniest of doses. Having migraines and hyperacusis and hoping they will go away soon!

Polygonum is good for the brain inflamation.

I took both, I now prefer stephania, it's milder than polygonum. But I started on stephania after my brain got better.

Go to buhner's forum in yahoo, there are more people with more experience on the protocol there.

When I took resveratrol, which has polygonum in it, migraines almost always followed and I found them to be associated with viruses, specifically HPV's (zoster). I had to use anti-virals frequently during my treatment which lifted the headache herx.

Sometimes strong herxes brought about issues of gout, differentiated by a stinging sensation, rather then the duller pain of a viral headache. Very painful when they occured together. *Not all stinging sensations were related to gout, but some of them were.

This is my experience only... it could very likely vary from one individual to the next.

Andrographis is anti-viral, no?

Did you start with a very low dose? One at a time? If not, you may want to back peddle.

* polygonum cuspidatum (source recommended by author) - I did fine with it. However, due to cost, I've only taken a bottle here and there.

I have severe hyperacusis and this did not affect that either direction. It also did not affect tinnitus either direction. For me.

* stephania - Never taken it.

* Andrographis (for two months working up to it and another full 12 months at top dose) did make a remarkable difference in horrendous foot pain that seems a bartonella symptom, for what it's worth. Nothing else helped as much as andrographis. It also helps calm tinnitus & hyperacusis a bit, just a bit.
