I recall reading on here that those of us who are most ill tend to not get colds and other bugs going around...and that getting a cold/flu is a good sign that the immune system is working better and/or the Lyme load is significantly reduced...?
I just got my 1st cold in over 2 years! So part of me is excited that this might mean something positive for my progress. Or maybe it's the opposite and my immune system is a wreck?
I'm running a fever but that is usual for me. However, the fever is higher and is steadily increasing (usually settles down by early evening).
Any ideas?

I got my first cold in over 12 months about a month ago and then got another one about 2 weeks later. I am around 85% better now. I usually average 2 during the winter.
I was wondering exactly the same as you. After reading a few posts I was still unclear. Some people believe the symptoms of the cold are the immune response and therefore if your immune system isn't running strongly you don't get this which is why sick people don't suffer colds. My doctor agreed that the symptoms are an immune response.
I have also read on their blogs that some of the people treating with bionic 880 have got their first colds in a long while once returning from treatment.
I'm hoping that it's a good sign!

Hopefully this is good news and true-I'm 10 days into the worst chest cold I've had in years, and even passed it to my 4 year old! This is my second cold since September.
I always worry I have undiagnosed Lyme, so maybe even though this cold is horrible, it's actually a really good sign for me.......

I don't know if I would put much faith into this theory. At my sickest I would get sick 4 times in the winter and even a few times during the summer and fall.
Now that my health is staying steady I rarely get sick. I got really sick a few weeks ago, but before that the last time I got sick was 2-3 years ago.

I know certain cold/flu symptoms like the fatigue, fever, achiness are immune-system responses...but what about the nasal congestion, sneezing, coughing, and other "common cold"-specific symptoms?
Kelly, did your doctor say that these classic common cold symptoms are an immune response too?
I also recall reading that several Bionic 880 patients got their 1st colds in years after the treatment, and that the theory is that their immune systems are finally working properly.
Sounds like the verdict is still out on exactly what getting a cold means for chronic Lyme patients, so I'm not getting too excited. It is nice to suffer from something normal for once...and it doesn't get more NORMAL than "the common cold"!
Donald: I hope you feel better soon. If you think you may have undiagnosed Lyme, you are definitely on the right site! I hope you get all your questions answered...
Duke: Congrats to you too on your improved health...I truly hope it continues!
