I had a really hard time last night.

I started off with the shortness of breath close to bedtime, and it kept getting worse, so I took a Benadryl to calm me down and help me sleep.

Well, that didn't work.

I started dozing off around midnight, and had one of those sleep paralysis/nightmare things where I couldn't tell if I was awake or asleep.

I was aware that I was having trouble breathing, and I had the sensation that someone had a bucket over my head and I was breathing loud and fast--

But that wasn't my breathing. I was trying to breathe slow and deep.

THen I thought I was grabbling my husband and screaming at him to get me to the ER because I was dying.

I finally got fully awake, but I still had the shortness of breath, and my mouth area felt numb. THen I started shaking all over. I wasn't cold, just shaking.

My sleep, what I got, was very restless.

Now this morning I feel weak and shaky, and still short of breath. And my leg muscles hurt.

So did I just have a "bad dream" or is this Lyme and company? I had been feeling not so crappy for the past few days, and now this.

Oh, I can't wait for my appointment in 2 weeks!

Starfall,

I think it is Lyme and CO. I have been experiencing these or simular symptoms everynight for 5 days now.

Sleep certainly is not refreshing is this state!

Take care,
Feelfit

How terrible for you.

I have had very weird panic-like episodes at night also. It always seems gloomier because it's night, and I try to remind myself that maybe that's part of it. I don't know, I guess I try to comfort myself with that reasoning.

Could the Benadryl have worsened the situation by making you feel kinda' "stoned?"

Starfall,
Can you get anything to calm your nerves? Once this kinda crazy stuff starts happening, I use Valerian, skullcap, poppy, hops, kava and co. All are very potent nervines, so do your research and be careful. Chamomile tea at bedtime helps, too.

I had similar terrors everynight for several months. Horrible, awful, not of this world.
These episodes developed after years of bedtime insomnia.

Once I got into treatment, I started crashing out on the couch and have not have any trouble falling asleep since. Thank God. I do have "late insomnia" now, though. Waking at ungodly hours.

Hold on, Starfall. We are here.

I'm sorry you had to go through this. I've gone through something sort of the same, but not exactly.

Just wanted to say that I too feel half dead today... so I know how you feel.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone.

I've been really fighting the shortness of breath all day, and now I'm all over achy and have half a sore throat.

Could that little episode have been brought on by coming down with something?

Oh what a lovely disease!
