What infection causes this? I have always gotten the bright red ears from time to time. Today i noticed i had a red splotchy rash on my knees and elbows at the same time. It lasted for a couple hours or so and now its gone.
Anyone else ever experience this? Im having a pretty bad symptom flare also especially just feeling heavy headed dizzy and out of it. I dont know if something is replicating right now, im herxing/flaring or what.

Hi, Any chance you have taken a B-vitamin complex or Niacin by itself? I have gotten splotchy red rashes on my joints, it does not happen everytime I take it, only twice so far.
Sorry that you are having a symptom flare, are you treating right now?
Take care, Ocean

I've had the red ears off and on (usually just left ear) ever since getting Lyme and coinfections. Don't know which coinfection it is although it seems to happen less often after five years of treatment (although I'm still positive for Lyme, Bart and Ehrlichia despite treatment).
I just turned positive for Babesia Duncani, and for the first time, have had two episodes of turning red and on my neck, part of my face and shoulder one time, then just on my neck the other. I'm wondering if it's Babesia because I haven't started treatment yet and this is a new symptom for me.
Anyone else out there with thoughts on this? My red areas were bright red, but went away within minutes.

My son had an episod of red, hot ears after a 10 day course of amoxicillin for an abcessed tooth. He has not been on antibiotics for lyme. I spoke with his doctor that thought it could be phenol sensitivity due to killing normal flora and that I should increase his B-6 in the activated form (P5P). This seems to have helped. Phenols occur naturally in brightly colored foods and artifical colors/substances.

Dr. B says red pinnae is a common sign of Lyme. I've had it for years, but not since starting abx.
