I am currently taking amoxy and biaxin as LLMD suggested and has had me on for quiet some time.

Primary doc prescribed zithro for me.

Now, I don't know whether to take all 3 or just the zithro or finish the amoxy and biaxin and then start the zithro.

Insurance will just pay for one months' supply of zithro. Primary doc plans on pulsing it.

Not his terms...mine. I dont' think he is aware of pulsing in the lyme world.

But, he did say since insurance will not provide more than one month having a few days on and then a few days off is a way of making it last longer.

Any one taking this combo or something like it?

Zithro and biaxin are both macrolides. The same

class of ABX. You usually take one or the other

with the Amox, but not zithro and biaxin together.

Thanks. That is what I kind of had in mind, but don't trust my brain so good to have a back up. [Smile]

Yes don't take zithro with Biaxin. So finish the amox and biaxin.. You have a primary doc and an LLMD doing this? Are they communicating? When my LLMD says take a break, it's COMPLETELY off all abx. Just be sure that one hand knows what the other is doing.

I of course like to stockpile meds /what ins covers for 'future needs' and you can do what you like..

I know the primary doc doesn't get pulsing
, but you have to be careful that you do take whatever you end up on- regularily and for zithro the usual dose is at least 500 mg a day- and it has to be regular to keep the levels high enough in your blood or it's sort of useless, of course that's open for suggestion but that's my two cents worth! Good luck

I opened up the package from the pharmacy and it was only 3 pills.

I am feeling so discouraged and am considering cancelling insurance.

U NEED to make your PCP aware of any/all meds you are already on.
I would 2nd not tking the Biaxin AND Zith.
Both are great abx but don't compliment ea other.

Only 3 pills in there as it's a standard protocol he has you on. Follow the directions. The Zith stays in your system a long time.
Consequently, you really don't "pulse" Zithro, but pulse the drug it' used with, typ a cell-wall abx like Ceftin or amoxy.
Get your LLMD's advice on any pulsing. You don't want to develop an abx-resistant bug. [Wink]

Thanks. Not feeling so angry and hopeless this am.

I read the card again and it says 3 refills.

So I will take the 3 pills and then wait a certain amount of time and take 3 more.

it seems like I took zithro in the past and took a pill a day...but that was a long time ago.
