After reading the Margulis paper I am not surprised.

Another example of bad science and politics masking what's really going on. But it's good news - once they acknowledge that it's actually relapsing secondary/tertiary syphilis, they may come up with a way to kill spirochetes since they seem to have unlimited research resources at their disposal.

Do you think AIDS is syphillis or the HIV virus and syphillis together? When I was researching CFS as the cause of my illness, I deemed in my studies that HIV is HIV and AIDS is HIV with lyme. Lyme or syph...same difference.
By the way...is there a cure for that and why aren't we using it?
Interesting.

Wow blinkie! That gives me some serious food for thought.
You could be so right.

There are some people that believe that the virus HHV-6 is a co-factor in the development of AIDS. Actually, there is a movie called the "Last Lovers on Earth" that discusses this.
that is FRIGHTENING!

Ah the rush to "solve the riddle" type scenario.
Unfortunately, I've read so many medical journal studies
That were so flawed due to "threats to validity".
Whether it be the sample group, the control group, the method, etc.
Sad thing is that desperate people (like us)
Want an answer yesterday.
Isn't it that they are "managing" HIV today with meds?
That it isn't a death sentence like it once was.
I can see the similarities between AIDs and Lyme.
Medical management and not erradication of illnesses.
Sigh.
Hugs,
Geneal

I have thought of that theory before as well as others: Syphilis + Lyme = AIDS New Strain of Syphilis = AIDS Syphilis + HPV = AIDS (why all the focus on creating a vaccine for HPV in the last few years? I just don't buy why they would spend that kind of time and research on HPV if it wasn't more serious than just a chance of getting cancer. Lots of things may cause cancer, hell the fda doesn't even ban most.)

just to be devil's advocate: there is lots of
new research that does show HIV and response to
the anti-retro virals in patient cases. there
are some dr who have spent their lives on this
diesease and searching for way to halt the turn
to "aids". from HIV to AIDS is determined by cell
counts, viral load, co-infections, etc. too
early for my brain to fully work. however, there
is scientif proof of anti-retrovivals do decrase
HIV load and blood couts to t cells, etc. one
paper making speculations is far from discounting
many other newer research evidence that does
support HIV as what it is, viral causing human
immune system to crash and die with Aids conversion. just my thoughts
just asking to keep open mind and never take one
article to heart without other proof.. ex:
PCP pneumonia is AIDS opportunistic infection
but, mepron is one med used with other to tx it
we use mepron(me too, right now) for babesia and
anti-malarial effects. some meds work in mult.
ways. just like neruopathy tx with seizure meds
just my 2 cents- i did a stent on HIV floor in
hosp. with one of our states top doc on this,
just like our LLMD's this has consumed him and
his findings and tx, tx responses would not
support the article listed above. just asking for
open minds and cross reference with more current
research- and HIV/AIDS had def. had $$ spent on
that!! wish lyme would have that kind of look!!

You can do a little research on Antivirals and their effect on Spirochetes. They do put the bacteria into cystic state and improvement is seen. As far as the viral count. Long before the AIDS thing, syphilis does wipe the immune system out too. The viral load would be from opportunistic infection. I find it strange that since HIV there hasn't been one recorded death from syphilis. That is because it is being misdiagnosised as aids.
