Here is what drugs.com says:

Moderate Drug-Drug Interaction fluconazole and naltrexone (Moderate Drug-Drug)
GENERALLY AVOID: Coadministration of naltrexone with other agents known to induce hepatotoxicity may potentiate the risk of liver injury. Naltrexone, especially in larger than recommended doses (more than 50 mg/day), has been associated with hepatocellular injury, hepatitis, and elevations in liver transaminases and bilirubin.

MANAGEMENT: The use of naltrexone in combination with other potentially hepatotoxic agents (e.g., acetaminophen; alcohol; androgens and anabolic steroids; antituberculous agents; azole antifungal agents; ACE inhibitors; endothelin receptor antagonists; interferons; nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors; thiazolidinediones; anticonvulsants such as carbamazepine, hydantoins, felbamate, and valproic acid; lipid-lowering medications such as fenofibrate, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, and niacin; herbals and nutritional supplements such as black cohosh, chaparral, comfrey, DHEA, kava, pennyroyal oil, and red yeast rice) is generally not recommended unless the potential benefit outweighs the risk. Patients treated with naltrexone should be advised to seek medical attention if they experience potential signs and symptoms of hepatotoxicity such as fever, rash, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, right upper quadrant pain, dark urine, and jaundice. Periodic monitoring of hepatic function is advisable.

But if you notice, it mentions 50mg naltrexone, and I'm only taking 4 mg because this is for "Low Dose Naltrexone" therapy or "LDN." Naltrexone doesn't even come in doses that low, this has to be compounded.

So I'm thinking it should be okay?

Hmmm....I will call my doctor, but just wanting other opinions on this.....

Thanks!

That's how I read that as well- 3 mg or whatever we take is pretty low.

Thanks Maria! Actually, that reminds me. Could you all on Low Dose Naltrexone fill me in on your exact dosage of it?

I recently read on lymenet some started out with as little as 1.5 mg.

My doc started me out on 4mg. I have been on it about a month, and in the last month, I've been markedly worse. I have started a lot of new things though, so it could be due to a lot of things.

But I might as well try to figure out if the LDN could be one of them. Because whatever it is that's making me so tired, it's gotta change.

Should I ask the doc to bump me down to 2 or 3 mg? I know it's only a few mg's, but maybe it'll make a difference?

Daughter takes 4.5mg, but she had to go back on methodone for pain, she had to stop LDN. It really helped with her sleep, but that's about all. She takes it with Diflucan.

I'm on 3 mg.

I went to 3 mg and after some months I had to increase, now 4-4,5 mg.

I use it to lower thyroid antibodies, and it raises my TSH (stupid doctors keep lowering my thyroxine dose otherwise despite of low ft4 and ft3) and it helps with adrenals so I can exist with just a tiny bit of hydrocortisone supplementation.

nora
