Im just wondering if anyone here has done any sort of neuro cognitive or neuro vision related rehabilitation?

My doctor reccomended it to me becuase of all of my vision problems and related cognitive symptoms.

For some reason my vision symptoms rarely improve even with real agresive treatment. Im not sure if im taking the correct drugs but ive tried many things.

My neuro vision symptoms are: After images, hazy swirly vision, trouble focusing, flat looking images(no depth perception), floaters and many others.

Has anyone with these sort of vision symptroms been helped by rehab?

Thanks for any info,
Joe

Hey Joe,

I just posted something similar. I am in the same boat. My LLMD wants me to see a Neuro Opthomatrist. Might be an idea for you.

He said he has had alot of people having there vision issues resolve through treating the symptom directly.

Take care

Neil

Hi Joe

I went to see a LL neuro opthamologist in Lancaster and he diagnosed me with a partic visual prob - part muscular (my Left and Right eyes weren't working together properly), and it turned out part neurological (because this problem was so bad, my left eye was shutting off at times so I wouldn't see double!).

I've never had floaters though.

Anyway, I was referred by him to another Dr whose office provides vision therapy in West Chester PA - I went for several months and it helped tremendously - my vision still gets blurry occasionally if my symptoms really flare, but the particular problem is about 90 - 95% better.

Good luck!
Abby

You might check out vestibular rehabilitation at

http://www.vestibular.org/vestibular-disorders/treatment/vestibular-rehab.php

- it's best if you can get a LL therapist as lyme patients do pose a different challenge that someone who is not LL would not understand.

Inner ear/balance training can help with vision and brain - and many other things, too.

And

Yoga for the Eyes -- at Amazon - and many videos on You Tube.

But, Joe . . .

Yes, some rehab and training techniques may help you manage or cope but if infection is the cause, that must be treated. As well, toxins from infections must be handled. Are you getting the treatment for lyme (and coinfections) that you require?

[oh . . . I just went to your You Tube video - http://www.youtube.com/user/jocus20

I can't see the date on that but it seems recent. . . . I'm still watching it. I see that you do have a LLMD and that you are talking supplements.

You've had a rough time, but hold on . . . this will get better. ]

you might check out Gotu Kola for your brain:

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez

PubMed Search:

Gotu Kola - 227 abstracts

Centella asiatica - 223 abstracts

Gotu Kola, brain - 26 abstracts

Gotu Kola, cognitive - 8 abstracts

Are you perhaps getting even a trace of aspartame/Nutrasweet/Equal and MSG (in all its names - search google) ? All of that can play havoc with brain signals.

And, Tai Chi or Qi Gong are actually good for everyone at whatever stage of treatment they may be at. Either can really helps so many things with the brain, balance and coordination.

It's fun - it's not like a school assignment. Just do at your own pace and level of comfort. There are many DVDs but an instructor can be found at many adult and community centers.

Joe,

GREAT job on the video at http://www.youtube.com/user/jocus20 . . .

I really like your conversational tone and how quiet and still the background is. It's so refreshing to watch something that does not hit me over the head.

One suggestion is to put a date on it or rather than say next month, say the month and year. That way, when we watch for details so that we can better answer you, we know how current your last entry is.

You might hold up a card (light in color but not stark white) with a date on it at the beginning and end since You Tube does not seem to post a date of when it was made.

Best I could gather this one is five months past September (last?) which may make it last month - February ?

I do vision and vestibular rehab. I find it very helpful to rewire the brain and recommend it. However most progress has come as the infection has come down. If you aren't in a place of having active infection under control, you aren't going to make a lot of progress.
