Since being on mepron , rifampin, diflucan, omnicef, and zithromax for 4 or so months, Dr. R switched things up...

staying on mepron and diflucan.. going on avelox and ketek ..

anyone have any experiences w/avelox/ketek... i know avelox is in quinolone family which scares me because of possible side effects.. so far, im groggy from the first dose

Did you mean that you are scared of NOTHING in the levaquin family? or by ANYTHING. It's hard to know what you meant.

However, there have been some tendon issues. But, talk to your doctor to see if perhaps he already put something in place to minimize the risks.

Did he increase or change any of your supportive supplements? Have this discussion with your doctor and hear what he has to say, first. Tell him your concerns. He may have a way to work around all that.

Hey Hezzer,

Do you have Bart? Levaquins hit Bart. I just found out recently (by calling the drug store I had it filled 9 years ago) that I was on Cipro in April 2000 after my appendectomy. A few weeks after the surgery, I felt REALLY good. REALLY happy, I hadn't felt that way since getting sick in '96. Then when I found out I had Lyme last Oct, it made since that some abx had made me feel so good.

Well, I just found out last week that I was on oral Cipro (I don't know what IV meds I had, but was only in the hospital for a few days).

I'm going to talk to my LLMD to see about taking it sometime.

I was only on it for 2-3 weeks, but didn't have any problems, not even nausea. It was like a happy drug for me though.

Take care,
Ocean

I See Dr. R too. I jusst started avelox last night. Ive been on the quinolones in the past for a short time and havent had issues.

I feel the same way as you. Ive heard some people have had bad issues with the quinolones and that kinda scares me. But, then there is also a lot of people who have been tremendously helped by them.

I will let you know how it goes on the avelox. IT is my first time on this one.

Keep me posted as to how u do as well.

JOe
