i'm reading on what to eat for sugar free diet.

ugh, i hate just eating meat and vegetables.

but this book "the yeast connection" is not very clear on this.

can i drink v-8? can i eat popcorn or rice cakes?

arrghhh, what do you eat for snacks?

Carrots and celery.

Yes, it's getting old.

Definitely no rice cakes, they are the worst. Popcorn by some charts is barely okay and if you add a lot of butter to it that'll slow down how it's digested. V-8 is okay too though. For snacks though i try stuff like hard boiled eggs, hummus with bran crackers, or eziekel (however that's spelled) pita bread. You have to be creative and really think of new stuff.

i can eat brown rice. brown rice is a lower carb of the high carb things (sorry if i dont make much sense) Like whole grains like wheat (although some people have to avoid gluten) quinoa (sp?) I believe that vitacost sells plain brown rice cakes. I also eat their brown rice noodles.

Snacks i eat unsweetend yogurt i just add lots of lemon juice ...but they sell many flvors of stevia you can add. Vitacost and some health store sell these.

I also eat corn chips. They dont seem to be a problem for me. I just make sure they are regular corn chips. the flavored ones usually have sugar added.

I also make pospiscles with water and lemon but you could use flavored stevia flavor and water if you wanted it sweet.

randibear just so you know different people have different opinions on what should or shouldnt be eaten to avoid yeast. So if you look in different places you will get different info. I think in the end that you have decide what works for you.

Rice cakes and popcorn or anything popped according to Andrew Weil deplete your lipoic acid. I still eat popcorn sometimes anyway.

Like azure, I eat whole grain brown rice in moderation. If you cook it until it is mush (keep adding water to it, almost as if you were making it into porridge) it's supposed to be easier to digest. Personally, I found this to be true and that is the only way I can eat it. On such a bland diet, it's actually fun to eat!

I do eat beans. Black beans on top of brown rice (mush) is pretty yummy.

V-8 is not the best choice, but there are other products with less additives. Get a juicer and make your own fresh juice that won't sit in plastic bottles in hot warehouses for months on end.

The Jack LaLane power juicer is the best I've found - about $100 at Costco. Amazon has it, too.

There is absolutely no need to resort to the cartoon of rice cakes and a celery stalk for a meal.

There are hundreds of fabulous foods that we can eat. Maybe thousands - certainly that many if you consider all the ways the same food can be seasoned differently.

It is possible to have gourmet meals each day - 3 times - if one had the energy - and still be on the lyme diet. Still, simply vegetables can be gourmet food.

If you hate vegetables, get to know garden herbs like rosemary, thyme (get them fresh or grow them). Your world will change as you bring vegetables to life. And try new ones.

Bok choy stir-fried with orange slices and almonds can be great alone or with any meat - and by using meats in a stir-fry, you use less but get more flavor.

The books: A SPOONFUL OF GINGER or THE CURE IS IN THE KITCHEN are a great start to playing with favors.

Going ethnic with Mediterranean or foods from India and China can also expands our choices tremendously.

Vegetable slices with a yogurt blend of dill weed and a drop of stevia is nice. You can also add frozen (rinsed and squeezed) spinach to a yogurt dip.

Black bean dips are good, too.

Mary's Gone Crackers - yummm. Many varieties. Far better flavor than rice cakes and with a better glycemic index. And they are gluten-free and organic.

It is all about flavor, I say!

www.marysgonecrackers.com

. . .signature product is a delicious and unique cracker made with organic brown rice, organic quinoa, organic flax seeds and organic sesame seeds.

Crunchy and flavorful, they come in 5 flavors: Original, Caraway, Herb, Black Pepper, and Onion.

Note: these are too loud for my ears, but I put them with black beans and soften them a bit. Fabulous.

I eat brown rice (including rice cakes) all the time - it is one of the few things that doesn't bother me too much.I honestly feel better with some whole grains in my diet. I do try to limit wheat but have it occasionally

I know my LLMD is very anti corn anything - I think it is supposed to be very toxic or somethng- I can't keep track anymore!

According to Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo no one should eat corn. I try to eat corn tortillas once and in awhile. Ultimately I don't think my stomach likes them.

I know it doesn't sound very good but it really is: I make a shake for breakfast with almond milk, raw almond butter, 2 tbl. canned pumpkin, a few spinach leaves, grated ginger, ice, half a green apple (my only fruit) and a dash of stevia.

I love Mary's Gone Crackers too.

If you need an occasional quick snack, I've heard that Standard Process Chocolate Bars are ok.

Virgil's makes a diet root beer that is sweetened with stevia only.

Raw almonds are a good snack too.

I get very sick from starch, especially corN!

I get sick from corn too. Not only is it one of the hardest thing to digest, it is also a trigger for migraine headaches.

I know breakfast can be awfully hard when following this diet. That's where I think including a little whole grain brown rice (if you can tolerate it) really comes in handy.

Brown rice hot cereal (just like oatmeal or cream of wheat) is easy to digest. It's much easier to digest than crunchy or puffed things like rice cakes or cereal. It is also sugar free!

Bob Redmill has a fantastic one- Brown Rice Farina hot cereal. If you make it with almond milk, it's delicious. It's very creamy. It also makes for a good snack!

4 Season's idea of a smoothie was great too.

Keebler is also right about juicing. It's one of the best things you can do for your body. I personally love anything with carrot juice (though I have to be careful with it. It's a little sweet so some people can't do it at all. I find that if I'm in a phase where I can't do it, I replace it with celery juice). Carrots, Celery, Cucumber and Broccoli is a yummy combination. They have lots of books out there on juicing that have recipe suggestions.

There is nobody that can make me give up my popcorn! I'm like the smoker with lung cancer that won't give up smoking.

You CAN'T take away my popcorn. I don't eat it as much as I used to - but at least once or twice a week.

Seed and nuts are good for snacks too. (except peanuts and i think pistachios) but they are harder to digest.
