My LLMD just started me out on low doses of Biaxin for Babesia with the goal of working up.
Can anyone share if Biaxin helped with neuro issues. Right now I have achiness in the head and my LLMD stated this is due to inflammation from Babs.
Also concerned because I thought Babesia was a parasite, and she hasn't started me on anything else as she wants to go slow. Will Biaxin alone still help for Babesia? I am just concerned about having the head inflammation each day.

it didn't help me; not dx for babs, etc. just lyme.

I took biaxin with amoxy and it did not help me with neuro symptoms or headaches.
I know that biaxin is used with mepron for babesia if one cannot tolerate zithromax.
Maybe she is starting you out on the biaxin and will add in mepron?

I believe you will eventually be put on mepron since your llmd is starting you out slow. I started out very slow on Biaxin and have worked my way up. Adding in Mepron is my next step if I decide to proceed that route vs. IV herbs/supps, etc. I will say that I believe it is working for me. When I increased the dose again last week I definitely had a very weird headache for two days that I never had before. Kind of like my brain floating aimlessly in my skull. On the other hand, I also increased two herbals- parastat and paracidin. Something triggered that. Also, I have had night sweats every night again that I hadn't had in a while. So, it is getting to something.
Just remember that your LLMD does not believe in going to fast or herxing too badly.
