Is it legal for a US resident to buy medicine in Canada and if so how would I go about getting it?
If it's not legal, how would I go about getting it?
I'm tired of my insurance company denying just about every medicine that my daughter's LLMD prescribes, especially the ones that are going to cost me thousands.
Canada is about a 5 hour drive for me and I would have no problem making the trip.
Does my LLMD have to send them a prescription? Please help.
I can't tell you how mad I am at my insurance company and the IDSA whose guidelines they follow to deny the meds.
The latest denial is for Gemifloxacin (Factive) 320mg. The lowest price I could find in the US is $800 for 30 pills. I read an earlier post saying someone could get it for $5.80/ pill or $174 for 30 pills in Canada.

I heard retired people doing that alot getting meds from canada, damn some retired people that live close to canada move there for the free health care. Not sure if there is a customs issue coming back with stuff or not, same is done down south with states that border mexico.
Wish I had more details, I think they discuss it it Micheal Moores Documentary Sicko.
There prolly is site devoted to procuring meds out of country, I would do some googling.

I understand you can come back into the U.S. w/ up to a 90-day (?) supply of any med you have a copy of a 'script' for.
Used to be a no-brainer if ya lived within a reasonable drive of the border and had significant RX costs, but when $4-a-gallon gas arrived & the American-Canadian exchange rate fell thru the floor, the border folk were suddenly much lonelier.
