Seems like, according to them, a ton of our supplements are contaminated with lead. Well, if so, they sure have quite the monopoly on this information...

Does anyone here have an account/ know anything about the truth of what's on that site?

I have had chronic Lyme for 8 years and during those 8 years I have taken a LOT of supplements!

I recently had a heavy metals test done from Doctor's Data that was done with a provoking agent (DMSA I think), and lead was not elevated AT ALL. It was completely undetected. I was slightly elevated for Aluminum and Cadmium, and very elevated for Mercury, which is probably from vaccines and fish for me.

Granted, I have taken mostly the supplements that the LLMD's recommend....so most of them are pretty high quality I guess. I would be leery of buying really cheap supplements from places like Walmart or CVS.

Sometimes I will take something cheap-er from the health food store, like Solaray brand, but as you can see, so far I am okay.

So I would only worry if you are taking tons of very inexpensive supplements....even then, who knows. So maybe "our" supplements are okay, at least based on my experience.

PS---one thing I would be VERY careful with is anything containing a blue-green algae like chlorella, spirulina, etc.

Check the labels of a lot of these energy supplements, multi-vitamin type supplements or supplements with a lot of ingredients. Chlorella, spirulina, etc are SO easy to contaminate, that I refuse to buy any supplement that adds those in. Even if someone here recommends it to me, I don't buy it.

Those are grown in China and are almost certainly contaminated.

If I want chlorella, spirulina, or any other blue-green algae, I will only buy them on their own (not mixed with other things because even the expensive brands will cheap out, I guarantee) from a VERY small list of suppliers that can provide documentation of the purity of their product. My LLMD recommends Prime Chlorella.

Even some companies other Lymies have recommended to me, when I have emailed their company asking for specifics on purity, the company could not provide me with any testing they have done on their product.

I am only speaking of these blue-green algae, b/c they suck up contaminants like a sponge.

I am also very careful with fish oil brands, those are also more likely to have contamination. I buy Carlson's or anything labelled FREE of contaminants. So again, I don't buy supps that have fish oil "in" them.

Hope that helps.
