Is this even possible. I'm on Diflucan 400mg a day but that is going to run out soon and I don't think its been enough to rid me of the yeast.

I've been following a diet but there are certain things I have not given up. Like milk and cheese and beef.

I take Coconut Oil and Olive Leaf Extract daily. Just concerned once I'm done with my diflucan I am going to get worse.

Any advise is appreciated.

Thanks.
Melissa

How much Coconut oil are you taking?

Dear Geet3721,
Yeast is very difficult to destroy. I am struggling with it as well. Modification of my diet helps, but I am still loaded! My skin smells like vinegar. I cannot even cheat and eat a little ketchup, or my feet will smell like pickles! I totally avoid yeast, vinegar, and dairy.

I did not know you were supposed to avoid beef. I know you should avoid meats with hormones, and if you tolerate yogurt with probiotics, you should eat organic. Soy cheese is very good on broccoli, so you know! Soy sauce, peanuts, pistachios, and anything with sugar are forbidden on the Candida Diet. Processed tomato products, mushrooms, olives, black tea, any form of sugar (even natural), and basically anything with flavor is not allowed.

Another important item is probiotics. As you destroy the yeast, rebuilding the intestinal ecosystem is essential. Many people do not do this. Those good bacteria help destroy the yeast. The trouble with antibiotics is, it cannot tell the difference between good bacteria and bad. Some excellent probiotics I have heard of or used are: VSL #3, Accu-Flora, and FloraStor.

Sincerely,
Jin

C3MOM- I am currently taking 4 softgels a day of source naturals Extra Virgina Coconut Oil

Jin- Thank you for all your wonderful advice, this is really hard I have a big problem giving up Milk and Cheese and everything really. I need to stay away from Soy because of my Thyroid at least thats what I'm told.

I need to revamp my eating habits and try hard the thing that kills me the most is that if you not a hundred percent strict its like everything you give up is for nothing.

BTW- smelling like pickles is hysterical LOL thanks for that one [Wink]

While you're on abx, my view is that you keep it at bay ; I recommend NSI's Candida Yeast Management from vitacost.com [and a probiotic].

Other antifungals are:

Allimax,
Grapefruit Seed Extract, GSE, 15 drops 3x/day,
oregano oil pills,
garlic,
cloves,
black walnut hull extract,
Pau d'arco,
Saccharomyces boulardii

I have to take the Allimax and GSE with every meal. The others are optional if i'm desperate.

The oregano oil pills used to work, but now they don't seem to have much effect.
I can't take the Olive Leaf extract right now because it conflicts with abx and i don't have time slot for it.

Another thing is a Now brand probiotic powder in a jar that includes 1.8 mg copper per 1/4 tsp dose. It seems to help, but one dose a day would be the max.

I have a few Diflucan pills, so if i'm desperate i can take 100mg maybe once a week, that's all i have.

I'm also taking Minocycline; i read that Mino is blamed for some Candida cases; it did coincide with a worsening of my candida.

Some folks are so much more prone to candida than others and it is hard to reverse candida, even AFTER we stop abx.

You may know this already, but just in case, a quick summary.

Detox
The first aim of your Candida cleanse is to cleanse the system of the toxic byproducts of Candida.

Fasting, colon cleansing, wheatgrass, fresh vegetable juices, plenty of lemon water, detox herbs, exercise (as tolerated), sauna, and anything else that extracts toxins reduce the yeast population in your system.

Candida treatment must bring yeast cells back into balance. You may want to use a prescription antifungal AND anti-microbial

herbs and/or candida products that contain enzymes from your natural or health food store that in combination for 15 days on then 5 days off, repeating as long as needed.

The 5 day break discourages mutating yeast from multiplying
and developing immunity to the herbs. Inoculate yourself with probiotics

Probiotic bacteria favorably alter the intestinal microflora balance, inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, promote good digestion, boost immune function, and increase resistance to infection.

People with flourishing intestinal colonies of beneficial bacteria are better equipped to fight the growth of disease-causing bacteria.

A good quality High culture/high strain refrigerated taken frequently during the day away from abx and at bedtime is essential to replace the ones abx destroys.

My LLMD sells Iflora by Sedona labs with 20 billion cultures and 16 live strains. It really helps!

Maybe yours has a reliable one or you can purchase a good one like Renew Life Ultimate Flora CRITICAL CARE or a similar product in your local health food store.

A diet to eliminate Candida is a long term lifestyle and in fact diet is your BEST defense against candida.

Yeast loves sugar and simple carbohydrates; if you keep feeding yeast cells they will multiply, and even the best anti-microbial herbs won't keep them in check!!

Eat a disciplined diet for at least 3 months, then when your symptoms disappear, you can expand your diet. But try not to revert to old habits, or the candida symptoms will quickly return.

Foods to Avoid- ALL SUGAR & CARBS!

There is also a very good thread at the top of this board regarding candida.

NO:

Aged cheeses, alcohol, chocolate, dried fruits, most fresh fruits, fermented foods, mushrooms, mayonnaise, vinegar, glutenous foods (wheat,

rye, oats, barley), all sugars, honeys and syrups (that includes any `ose', like lactose, sucrose etc), and foods that contain yeast

or mold (breads, muffins, cakes, baked goods, cheese, dried fruits, melons, peanuts, although nutritional and brewer's

yeasts are not harmful, as they do not colonize in the intestines).

Foods to Eat

Most vegetables especially green (including plenty of raw garlic), protein foods (beef, chicken, eggs, fish), live yogurt cultures (both dairy and non-

dairy without sugar) whey, acidophilus, green algae (such as spirulina and chlorella), some seeds and oils, and non-glutenous grains (like millet, rice, rice bran and oat bran).

Some Herbal Supplements

Acidophilus
Wormwood
Black walnut herb
Bifidobacterium
Caprylic acid
Cloves capsules
Garlic
Goldenseal
Grapefruit seed extract
Oregano oil
Oregon grape
Pantethine
Pau d Arco

The above is just a suggestion. Always check with your doctor. [Smile] [Smile]

I was a yeast factory for many years prior to my current illness. I came into this illness with yeast all over my body.

What has cleaned it up?

Clean diet, colliodal silver (my doctor says use only ionized silver) I have used Silver Shield by Natures Sunshine and I am currently using my doctor's brand, Argentyn 23. Both seem to work very well.

If my tongue gets a white coating, I hold the cs in my mouth, gargle and swallow. If I were to get vaginal yeast (I haven't for a years now) I would soak a tampon in the silver and insert it.

I eat and supplement to be in optimal health so my body can assist medication in this fight. It seems to be working.

Clearing the body of metals will starve out yeast as mercury feeds yeast. I tested high in lead and mercury. I had my amalgam fillings removed and this alone stopped all my significant jaw joint pain. Gone within 2 weeks of removing the fillings.

I have been on many, many detoxifying agents over the 4 yrs I have been sick and this keeps me up and running. I do believe it has much to do with clearing the yeast and hopefully is also the reason I am, so far, handling the side effects of the medications well.

I use freeze-dried garlic with meals, which helps keep yeast down, and recently started taking Candex, which are enzymes that digest yeast, purchased through iherb:

http://www.iherb.com/Pure-Essence-Candex

It is a bit expensive as far as supplements go, but works for me.

In addition to a very strict diet that has already been mentioned here, I use a product called Candigone and get it from vitacost. I have found it to be a very powerful product with most of the key anti-yeast supplements all in one. I tend to take it easy with regards to the dosage because it can cause quite a herx in and of itself.

You just need to make sure all the herbs that are in it are okay to take with antibiotics...

Like luvs2ride, I also use Colloidal Silver but in nasal spray form. I get alot of sinus congestion when I am in yeast overgrowth and the C.S. nose spary helpes quite a bit.

Wow everyone is so amazing!! Thank you all for your responses I am so grateful. I have a lot of research to do on various products. Lots ofgreat suggestions.

Few questions though

1-Can a herx from Candida or Cadida itself cause a slight fever like 99.4 (not really a fever)?

2- What abx can you not take within a certain time of Olive Leaf Extract?

My LLMD recently took me off the Mino and Plaq and I am just on Diflucan and Biaxin, he thinks I'm in remission but Yeast is a problem now my diflucan is about to run out as I said above so that just leaves Biaxin.

Thanks again guys!

:-) Melissa

I would not go without diflucan. It is cheap. I would get a refill. I do the yogurt, coconut etc. But I would not do without diflucan.

Dear Geet,
You are welcome for the information! I have read so many books on this subject, I have lost count! What is so bad about the pickle foot odor is, doctors either look at you in disgust or as if you have two heads when you tell them about it. The major worry is when I actually feel well enough to go out, others will smell me. I use baking soda instead of regular deoderant due to it being aluminum-free.

I can scrub and scrub in the shower, and I still have strong body odor. At any moment, I am expecting to have mushrooms sprout out of my ears. I was on 2 to 4 courses of abx per year from birth until the age of 18. Then, I did the Helidac Therapy for 2 months in 2003. I have been on birth control since 1999 due to cysts, and was on steroids for asthma from ages 10 to 18.

Everyone has such wonderful suggestions! All of these are great to try. I cannot have raw garlic, because it will feel like my gut is being shredded. If you have symptoms down below, it really helps to shave there. Yogurt is supposed to be helpful, and I would love to try that in capsules as inserts.

Dear lymeherx001,
Sometimes my skin does burn. Do you mean as if it is on fire, or what? I tend to have a hot sensation with the rashes that pop up.
They come and go out of nowhere. Eczema on my hands and scalp are very bad. Hives or blotches appear on my neck and chest frequently.

Sincerely,
Jin

I suggest the Lyme Connection by William Crook. It is very helpful for controlling yeast.

I used to use Cumanda to control yeast and it worked extremely well. It is an herb used as part of the Cowden protocol, you can get it from Nutramedix. I would talk to a doctor though, because it is strong and can kill bacteria including Lyme.

Dear Aniek,
Do you mean "The Yeast Connection" by William G. Crook? I have that book, and it is still the Bible for destroying yeast. I think it is the best book ever written on the topic. I actually wrote an essay in college about it because its pathology is so fascinating. I got my copy from Amazon.com for an amazing price.

Sincerely,
Jin

Geet.

Many people mentioned herbs that already in Humaworm:

http://www.humaworm.com/formula.html

Sure it removes parasites....but there are many yeast killers in it too!

If I were to go back on antibx, I would pulse Humaworm as LONG AS I WAS on antibiotics...

Lesson learned. [Razz]

Thanks everyone!!!

Coldfeet- when you say pulse humaworm how exactly is that done? One day on One day off?

Thanks.

Jin, have you tried raw garlic mixed into yogurt, perhaps with chopped cucumber and/or scallions?

I doubt if that would hurt your stomach.

Making a pesto with herbs, garlic, pine nuts and olive oil also makes it easier to eat.

Posted by Janice70 (Member # 16319) on :

Polly, how does olive leaf extract conflict with antibiotics?

Posted by Jin (Member # 11735) on :

Dear ukcarry,
Raw garlic gives me terrible stomach cramps and diarrhea. I am not sure why. I know it destroys yeast. Yogurt is an issue because I am lactose intolerant. It seems like if I can eat something because it is gluten-free, it still is bad for yeast, or irritates my system in some way.

I miss food with taste. Pesto sounds good, but I must be careful about fat. Having your gallbladder out really irritates the stomach if you indulge to heavily. Getting back to the yogurt, would soy yogurt be alright? I think I could tolerate that.

Sincerely,
Jin
