hey dian,

well, if you only have lyme you are ok. 1,000 mg of zith is good. some llmds treat with MONO treatment. which means only 1 abx at a time to avoid major herxes.

some llmd believe zith also hits bart.

how long have you had lyme: do you have coinfections??

are you taking refrigerated high quality probiotics to avoid yeast? any supplements?

lymies are low in magnesium and b vitamins. fish oil is good for joints.

just in case you dont have this, its the USA's top lyme doctors guidelines. you might want to print for future use:

good luck and keep us posted. [Smile]

My LLMD likes to treat lyme with an antifungal at the same time as the antibiotics so the lyme can not hide.

Zithromax, amoxicillian, tindamax or tinidazole and diflucan is a good combination.

If you are concerned about mono treatment, you might want to consider asking your LLMD about combo with a cyst-buster and a ceflasporin or bicillin injections to get at the spirochete form. From my understanding, macrolides hit the cell-wall deficient form of Bb.

Check out Dr B's guidelines (at the top, under newbie links) for more info about specific Rx names.

Zithromax + Bactrim DS is also very good. Especially if protozooan coinfections are a problem.

Hits Bart, babs and lyme and toxoplasma.

We are not dealing with any co infections at this time, my lyme doctor is just treating neuro lyme symptoms. He said Zithomax is a good drug for neuro lyme. Should she be on a cyst buster along with Zithromax? thanks for all who replied.

My daughter only treated with Zithromax for six weeks last summer when she was diagnosed with Lyme.

It helped resolve some symptoms, but here we are one year later and now retreating Lyme and now baronella with Rifampin and Biaxin.

Her new LLMD. pediatric says that the low dose 250mg per day of zith was a low dose.

Now I feel like I've been wasting my time for the last 4 weeks on Zithromax, burracano basically says alone it works lousy and thats with other meds

Azithromycin- Adults: 500 to 1200 mg/d. Adolescents: 250 to 500 mg/d
Add hydroxychloroquine, 200-400 mg/d, or amantadine 100-200 mg/d
Cannot be used in pregnancy or in younger children.
Overall, poor results when administered orally

I am getting to the point where its not worth even treating this crap, If I have it, which is nearly impossible to prove non-clinically it seems like every doc adjusts the protocol and they just play hit and miss with antibiotics, I beginning to feel exactily the same as when I was misdiagnosed with GAD and Depression 20 years ago and went thru every pysch med in the book

I'm on my 3rd month of IV treatment and my LLMD has slowly added to my regiment. Right now I'm taking Zithromax/Clindamycin, Mepron, Art. and on Thursdays and Fridays I take Flagyl twice a day.

He also deals with neuro issues so I'm taking Neuronton during the day and Lamictal at night.

The Flagyl hits me hard so I must be very cysty, lol.

He rotates meds. I'm on this for 3 weeks Monday, Wed and Friday and then on alternate days I use lactated ringers which flush out the toxins.

My fourth week I'm completely off all meds. My LLMD says this week off is how he sees what the immune system is doing.

My first week off I felt terrible and couldn't figure out why. He said my immune system is beginning to fight the bacteria and that is a good sign.

When I go back and see him on my 4th week, he usually starts another med to go with the last one which would be the Zithromax for me.

I actually feel pretty good today after a rough couple of days Thursday and Friday. Before treatment, I never had a good day.

I like his approach. It is thorough. He said most ticks come with everything, so he likes to treat everything.

Sorry if I gave you more information than you wanted to know! [Smile]

Sandy
