If you have not gone to General Support and listened to the interview with Dr. J, you may want to do so.

I thought he said some very interesting things that are not widely known, such as:

--Children who are treated with antibiotics for 2 months after all symptoms of tick-borne diseases are gone and the child feels that it is all gone DON'T relapse. They can get bitten again, but they don't relapse.

--To get lyme in the first place, the person has to have had "pheromones that attract ticks" and that people are born with pheromones that attract ticks.

I have come to the conclusion that there is something about me that attracts not only ticks but also mosquitos. This is the first time I have heard a lyme doc support my conclusion with a scientific explanation.

I found this very interesting. These statements are made about 1/3 of the way into the interview if you want to jump right to them.

That makes perfect sense.

I've noticed it with mosquitoes (some people attrac them, and some people don't, and some people react to the bites, while some don't)

So why not ticks?

And how young do you have to be to count as a "child"? Does it count if you're a child at heart? [Big Grin]

As a child, I definitely attracted mosquitoes. But I don't get bitten as much since starting Lyme treatment which I always thought was odd.

Interesting..I always attracted any kind of bug.
Especially fleas.
I couldn't understand why I was the only one always getting bitten.
Guess that would explain it.
I used to tell people it was because I was so sweet!!

How crazy!! I have always said that mosquitos were attracked to me and I always got eaten up by fleas as well. Even with other people around.

I always got the worst of any bug that came along. That would truly be a good thing to be researched.

I so hope that hearing yesterday did some good.

Thanks, TF, for posting this. I have always been a mosquito magnet. My husband laughs at me because they won't go near him.

I believe it. I'm always paranoid about being out at dusk. I still get bitten. They get into my house and find me.

I always feel a little sick after being bitten, too. Anyone feel this way?

Some researchers in Florida tested whether or not some people truly did attract more mosquitos than others.

They were surpirsed to find that some poeple do in fact strongly attract more mosquitos than others. I wish I could remember what they said caused the attraction...

i ran a riding camp for a few years and ii noticed the same kids always had more ticks than others. and siblings could be different.

I attract more mosquitos, too. I never used to though.

I would guess -- wild speculation here -- that the spirochetes and other microbes cause us to give off an odor, maybe in the co2 or something (if that's even possible), that attracts the insects. It would be in the microbes' best interest to attract the ticks and mosquitos etc.

Weird to stumble across this thread -- I used to be an absolute mosquito magnet. This past year, I finally achieved nearly complete remission from lyme symptoms, and then had a nasty c diff infection to heal -- I healed that using a bowel cleanse protocol, and since doing that, bugs just don't bite me anymore! My roommate (sick with lyme) is still getting eaten alive in our apartment, but the bugs literally just ignore me now. The change seemed to come along with the clearing up of the gut problems as best I can tell...

I have been a mosquito and flea magnet my whole life. I always thought it was all the perfumes I wore!

Good food for thought here!

I am a bug magnet, as well. I read a long time ago that it was established that mosquitoes prefer type O blood. That's me!
