Read this a long time ago in "hints from Heloise"

and just realized the relevance of it. Stretch

to acivate. Pull off 2" portion and put in vacuum bag.

Then if there were any flea or tick eggs in carpet they would die in the bag.

Of course now I have a Dyson.
Still thought I would share.

Neat idea, thanks, though I don't have flea problem (hard wood floors & Frontline for dogs)

My vet had an article posted in the office. It told of a study that showed fleas and their eggs can't survive the rough trip down a vacuum hose into the bag.

Their outer shells get torn off from friction and they dry out.

So, according to the article, the collar would be overkill. But, then again, why not have overkill?

I don't know about ticks, though.

It's an interesting idea, thanks.

I have proof that fleas DO make the journey through the vaccuum cleaner, and live to tell about it---and here's how;

i used to put the flea collar in teh vaccuum cleaner bag (I actually thought of this idea in the late 80's. Before Frontline, and any other type of flea medication for animals (aside from a flea bath and dousing the yard with pesticides once a month!)

So, I did the flea collar/vacuum bag thing for years. Then I thought, maybe that's not killing them? What's to stop them from surviving the flea collar, and coming back out the vacuum cleaner tube? I had a cannister, btw.

So, I thought, put the damn bag in a ziplock baggie every time I'm done vaccuming. And that's where I found that the flea collar was NOT enough.

I found LIVE FLEAS in my ziplock baggie on many occasions. So, I thought, that's it for me, ticks were not even on my radar back then, and I had 2 german shepherd dogs to contend with, flea-wise. And fleas LOVE me.

So, I would rather go the ziplock baggie route than the flea collar in the bag route.
