Off and on for the last few months I have had episodes of horrible anxiety when I am lying down trying to go to sleep. Anyone else have this?

I've never had an anxious moment prior to Lyme and am just assuming this is yet another wonderful symptom.

What have you done to successfully combat this and calm down and get some sleep? I have some Ativan in the cabinet from my husband but don't really want to take any additional medication than absolutely necessary. But last night I was pretty close!

Thanks, Aimee

YES! Horrible anxiety that started just as I would lay down to sleep. After two months of Doxy, it started to subside. Now after 3.5 months, it's 90% gone. [Smile] [Smile] !!!
I started taking melatonin before bed about a month ago. I'm convinced it's helping me fall asleep faster.

Melatonin .5mg Pure Encapsulations brand has been helpful for me to go to sleep, too. It gives me 3-4 hours of sleep. I've yet to sleep through the night no matter what I take RX or otherwise.

I get it - had it last night in fact. Felt fine until I tried to go to sleep. I take valium when I get like this, which is usually only during a strong herx. Within 30-60 mins of taking this I am usually calmed down. I try not to take it otherwise.

Lyme has surfaced the anxious person in me too. I've always probably been a bit of a worrier, but never had actual anxiety until now.

YES! However I usually don't have problems falling asleep... But I'll wake up out of nowhere and have horrible chills, nausea, weak, and racing heart beat. I will tremble I am so cold. I don't even know if it is anxiety or something else. I've had it since getting sick and it only happens at night. Sometimes I will dry heave and feel like I'm getting a stomach bug. However when I fall back asleep and wake up later it's gone. Weird.

I'll give the melatonin a try - I had forgotten about that stuff. That would be much more natural than the Ativan!

Sounds like I can chalk this up to Lyme too - it amazes me how completely this little bug has messed with my entire body in such a short time.

Thanks for the replies.
