Finally a medication i found that works for me and doesn't make me feel high.

I suffer from chronic lyme disease for over 15 years. All these years they have been pumping xanax and percocet down my throat and i did nothing but throw them up.

Plus Percocet and Vicodin don't work your entire body for pain like the fentayl patch does. You put one patch and it last for 72 hours.

Finally! A medication that don't make you feel hig hand loopy but at the same time makes all yoru pain go away.

I got it in the emergency room and hopefully getting it at a pain center that Ive been waiting to go to that treats chronic lyme disease.

If anyone does not know of the pain center that treats chronic lyme disease please pm me for name of the institution for I cannot post it here.

Still need to find LLMD anyone good ones in bucks county who belive in chronic lyme disease?

I was on the Fentanyl 25mcg/hr MYL patches for a couple years plus ACTIQ lollipops for breakthrough pain. Lollipops were lifesavers, too sweet for me but worked within 2-3 minutes.

From what my pain doc said Fentanyl is a synthetic morphine but 80x stronger. The patches didn't always want to stick to my skin too well.

My PCP scripted the patches for me over a year until I saw a pain psychiatrist that took over my pain management.

Don't ever use a heating pad when using Fentanyl patches, very dangerous.

My father-in-law had the same problem as TO LIFE, it lowered his B/P too low.

Does anyone use the ACTIQ lollipops now, just wondering if they were still on the market. They are to be prescribed only if you are on the Fentanyl patches.

My doctor put one of those on me... it sent me straight to the hospital... I was throwing up so hard that green bile was coming up from my gall bladder.

Hospitalized for 2.5 days due to that stinkin' fentanyl patch

I think it suppresses the respiratory system but for many who are allergic to morphine, oxycodone, vicodin, etc., this is all they have provided it is monitored closely by their pain management doctor.

I see a pain specialist.

tolife- all meds carry certain risks you must decide with your doctor if the benefits outweigh the risks

i loved it too after my bilateral knee surgery-but in 3 weeks i was addicted to it

it took over a month of nausea and vomiting to get off it-i almost had to go to detox place for it

i was told they only give it to ppl who have terminal condition because it is so hard to get off

also-i thought i wasn't "high" on it...but when i got off it i realized i was-i couldn't remember a lot of what happened

i remember how much i liked it tho-and i never would have done my PT so well and had such a good recuperation form the knees w/o it

Please be very careful when using fentanyl/ duragesic patches.
I am not trying to frighten anyone, really I am not, but a very close girlfriend of mine passed away as a result of using a fentanyl patch.
She had a severe back injury and was prescribed this patch.
After several weeks of using it, one of them malfunctioned and released way too much medication as she was sleeping. She never woke up.
Her family is currently suing the makers of the patch.
My pain management doc suggested the patch to me as an option to control my pain from Lyme Disease, and I (obviously) refused.
I would rather be in 24 hour pain than to take such a risk.
In fact, if you google "duragesic" or "fentanyl patch", you will see that it is quite a dangerous medication.
Again, I am definitely not trying to scare you, but you should really be aware of the risks of this med.

My dad's been functioning much better since we got him off of them.

His pain has been managed with a combination of Kadian & Lyrica. He's no longer stunad and can think much more clearly now.

He had all kinds of problems with patches falling off, blistering from the covers, getting too much medication too quickly when his body temp was raised..........

you may want to be careful with the fentanyl patches, it is basically synthetic heroin. being an addict in recovery dealing with the pain is a hard thing for me. im currently taking vicodin for severe headaches and neck pain until i can get to the specialist, but i used to be addicted to opiates and just be careful. the places these drugs can take you can be worse than the pain itself.

I remember last year, there were a few of those damaged somehow in production, causing the patch to release WAY too much too quickly and a few people passed away from it.

I would just recommend not putting it on RIght before you go to bed, so if that were to happen (which its not, but anyway) so you could catch that problem and avoid any issues.
