Hey Guys--

For what it's worth, I am starting the brand of curcumin used by UCLA which removed the amyloid plaques from Alzheimer's patients' brains in their most recent clinical trial...

It's VERY EXPENSIVE so I'll be the guinea pig and let you guys know if I can tell any difference in it versus the over-the-counter brands like Jarrow Formulas...To be candid, I only really anticipate less gastrointestinal upset....We'll see...

It's supposed to not only be more bioavailable but also to penetrate better into the tissues (cross the blood brain barrier)....

I will be taking this, like so many of you, in order to fight inflammation and raise glutathione levels and improve my immune system...

Hopefully some of you are interested in this and I'm not babbling to myself about this (although I babble to myself at home so what's new???)....

Good health to all---

I use Jarrow Curcumin 95, 500mg 3x a day.

Would love for you to keep us updated.

Bugg- I am VERY interested in your progress with this. How did you get the UCLA curcumin? Did you call Verdue Sciences directly?
I have extreme problems with body wide inflammation and pancreatitis...which I also read curcumin has shown promise for.
How much does it cost?

Bugg, like cordor, I'd be very interesting in finding out how to get this product. Other brands have caused gastro problems for me.

Thanks!

New Chapter Zyflamend is an excellent anti-inflammatory and it contains a small amount of curcumim, as well.

Yes, I would be interested in where you ordered it and how much it cost, too.

Hey guys-

Yes, you're right. It's not officially on the market yet. If you go to longvida.com you can click the e-mail button and communicate with Blake. You can pay for it through paypal or by check. I seem to recall that for 100 capsules it was about $60 including shipping...not cheap I know...

..If more people from lymenet were interested, I was actually thinking of contacting Blake to try to get some sort of discount for those referred to him by lymenet....I'll e-mail him now to see if that's possible....

I know there are other brands on the market that claim good bioavailability...Enhansa is used by someone here on lymenet who says good things about it....many parents of autistic children use this brand as well....I don't know about Enhansa's ability to cross the blood brain barrier...

I know it's always a tough decision to throw more money at something new......

I took 3 capsules yesterday (the recommended dose is 2 a day). I took two capsules early in the day and 1 in the evening ALL ON ANY EMPTY STOMACH. With other brands of curcumin, I had to take them with something like yogurt, lots of fat, because it would cause my stomach to hurt and cause nausea the following day....(Zyflamend, which I know works for many on this board also tore my stomach apart)....

I had absoultely no gastrointestinal distress/symptoms from the Longvida that I took yesterday....I did, however, have problems falling asleep last night and staying asleep....it seemed to "energize" my brain....of course my body is still dragging around...I don't of course feel any different with morning stiffnes/inflammation yet...

I'll keep you posted..I know it can take some time to have a cumulative impact...I think, however, the anti-inflammatory impact should take place by the end of two weeks....

..I'll let you know what Blake says about the discount....

I've asked Blake about the group discount and he should get back to me by the end of the day...You might want to hold-off on ordering until I receive his answer... keeping my fingers crossed...Hey, it never hurts to ask....

I'd be interested in buying some too, Bugg. I find the tumeric supps I take help, but they are hard on my stomach.

Well, I heard back from Blake..He really didn't offer much of a discount..

He said that they are running a promotion that allows them to charge 50 cents per tablet instead of 60 cents per table for orders of 1000 tablets or more...He said if I could pool a group together that totaled 1000 that he could then ship it to different addresses....Keep in mind that shipping is $8 per person....

I already have 100 tablets and won't be ordering anymore right now until I see if this is any different from regular over-the-counter curcumin...Like many of you, I'm tired of spending soooo much out-of-pocket....

I know it's not much of a discount...If however, some of you want to pool together to do this, I'll be happy to foward the info on to Blake...

I have been using an expensive Curcumin but I have had no results.

Posted by Bugg (Member # 8095) on :

Ricedie, I'm so sorry the curcumin hasn't helped with your inflammation...ugh...

For clarification purposes, I haven't been on any oral or IV abx or antivirals for a year(did 3 1/2 years of it after being misdiagnosed 1 year)...just been doing supplements for the past year....So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I have no idea if curcumin helps with inflammation while you're on abx??? I don't know why it wouldn't help???

Maybe someone who has taken it while on abx will respond....

Bugg, thanks so much for taking the time to contact them! That was so nice of you to do.

And thanks for providing the specifics on it. I'm gona fetch some...

THX!

Bugg,

I'm still taking the Blue Bonnet curcumin,
and was thinking about trying the Longvida since
I am noticing a difference.(in the legs)

Anyway I have a few research articles I would be happy to forward to you - let me know if you want them or have them already.

MarsyNY-

I would love for you to forward the research articles to me.

What difference are you noticing in your legs?

I'm on my third day of the Longvida curcumin and I'm noticing, like with other powerful anti-inflammatories, it's now making me sleepy (not fatigued) just sleepy....I may start taking it in the evening if the sleepiness continues....

I have no pain at all today even though it's pouring rain outside....usually I ache like crazy when it rains...

The other thing I've noticed is that I don't have that constant pulsation throughout my body...Have you ever seen one of those cartoons where one character hits the other's hand with a hammer and it pulsates?? That is what my body always feels like....I don't know whether tody is just an anamoly or whether it's the curcumin....guess I'll soon see....

...day three and still no gastrointestinal upset....

If others start the Longvida curcumin, I would appreciate it if you would post your response as well....

I had extreme weakness and soreness in my thigh muscles as if I just did a 30 mile bike ride or overexercised those muscles.

My Dr. wanted me to try some prednisone, thats when I got serious about the curcumin.

Although the weakness and some of the stiffness is still there I am pleasantly surprised at this result. I have not changed anything else.

*sent you a pm

Reporting in:

For those thinking of trying Longvida, it may "do a number" on your sleep pattern...I've gone through waves of it making me stimulated, to sleepy, now back to stimulated...

I can definitely feel the effects of it....I have what I often describe as two types of fatigue: motivational/concentration/mental fatigue and physical fatigue. Thus far, the Longvida is definitely helping with the motivational/concentration/mental fatigue.

In fact, yesterday, I was noticing strange things like I could quickly explain to my husband the concept of transcendental idealism....I also was remembering complex concepts from law school...

It's kind of like my brain is revved-up but can focus as well. I also feel that my mood is very elevated....

I'll keep you posted...

Anyone who wants to try it should email [email protected] and tell them you want to get

in on the Lymenet pool. Just 10 people are needed, (or fewer if buying multiple bottles).

The discount would be $10 per bottle, according to the information Bugg gave.

Quick question--
has anyone else gotten a response when you emailed them about joining the Lymenet pool?

I emailed them but haven't heard back yet.

Hi, I am Blake, the contact for Longvida curcumin.

Please note that since it is a dietary supplement I need to adhere to FDA guidelines in talking about anything to do with diseases.

In any case, I can try to help with some resources. A new website with a lot of information should be up within a couple weeks.

Below is some info going into the website:

"Ask 'What If?' About Curcumin

Curcumin, the active compound from turmeric spice, is a superstar in the lab for the promotion of cognitive and general health.

But there is a catch. A critical concentration of curcumin needs to reach the bloodstream.

It is not about how much curcumin is consumed, it is about how much is absorbed into the bloodstream.

Years ago, one elite group of university neuroscientists in Los Angeles started asking `what if' about curcumin.

What if we can get curcumin absorbed into the bloodstream and target tissues at the necessary concentrations?

In a major breakthrough, they observed that one proprietary formula--out of hundreds that were tried--absorbed to unequaled high blood and tissue levels.

But bioavailability was not the end goal. They were able to observe anti-aging and cognitive-promoting influence at low, manageable doses.*

And now, we are closer to understanding 'What if' than ever before."

"Research Summary

Data in clinical and preclinical trials strongly supports Longvida's safety and potential for effectiveness for supporting general and specific health areas, including cognition.*

What research is behind it? Human and in vivo data on Longvida includes the following results:

* Curcumin from Longvida penetrates the bloodstream and the brain, and is one of the first to reach target concentrations in the body.*

* Longvida may significantly support cognition, memory, and general health.*

* Longvida reaches plasma at least 65 times better than generic curcumin.* (5,13,17)

A tremendous amount of research was dedicated to the discovery of SLCP Technology and the Longvida Quality Control systems.

Customer Feedback also supports the effects of Longvida Optimized Curcumin."

Let me know if you have any specific questions. I am happy to reply to anyone who wants to email me. I also receive the emails going to info.longvida.com.

To my knowledge curcumin/Longvida has not been studied in clinical studies for LD, however we do know a lot about how curcumin from Longvida absorbs and what blood levels are required to do certain things.

It is currently in multiple clinical studies involving joint, cognitive, cellular/genetic and other health issues.

You may also find info on google written by people who take Longvida. Longvida has taken about 10 years to develop at a major university, and trial and error of close to 200 formulas in bioavailability models.

It has not been 'officially' launched on the market but among the >1000 people taking it (mainly for cognitive and joint issues) we have received a surprising amount of positive feedback.

Another good resource on curcumin is a free pdf book (500 pages) that reviews the research on curcumin: http://mccormickscienceinstitute.org/assets/Aggarwal_book.pdf

you can Search this pdf for specific terms.. note it was written a couple years ago and there has been a bit published since then.

Pubmed.com as always is a good source. I will try to check back here often but again feel free to email me as well and I will do my best to answer your questions... Thanks,

Hi all--

I have been asked to "report" on my experience, thus far, with Longvida Curcumin. I started it on August 18th so I've been on it a little over 2 weeks now.

I DEFINITELY notice a profound and marked difference between this and regular over-the-counter curcumin. There's just no comparison. It has tremendously accelerated my brain functioning and memory.

Ex. I saw the painting the other day, The Scream, and just reflexively knew that Munch painted it....Before, I would have had to search my memory for a considerable amount of time to come up with that fact, if I ever could have....

Yesterday, I typed a one-page memorandum on a legal issue in less than five minutes...Before, that might have taken me thirty minutes...That is how remarkably better my brain is functioning after just 2 weeks on the Longvida curcumin....(At one point during my illness I couldn't add 3+ 5 or write checks or read a paragraph)....

I'm also noticing an elevation in mood that is fairly continual...

I'm having some difficulty with sleep due to the stimulating effects of the curcumin...I'm starting to assume it has a long half-life as I'm learning some days I don't even need to take it(or I'll be overstimulated..brain going 90 miles an hour)....I'm just trying to listen to my body...

As for the physical impact on my body, I notice that it helps with the inflammation/sorness...I still have a lot of stiffness and muscle twitching and tightness.... However, the Longvida may help with this in time...For me, it's just too early to tell....

Right now, since my sleep patterns are a bit erratic, my body may not be fully relaxing at night, hence perpetuating the stiffness..twitching.etc...I'm just trying to adjust....

It may also be worth noting that about a week into taking this I felt kind of flu-like and achey all-over for two days and my glands in my neck were a little sore....I cut back on the dosage and that went away....It kind of felt herx-like....

Anyway, I hope this answers some of your questions....Still in the nascent stages of this so hopefully a month's time will reveal more.....

Bugg,

Thank you for the report, excellent. I had to laugh at "The Scream" many here could have painted that one eh?

So seeing this post just jogged my memory that I forgot to send you the articles, will do right now. I am now more interested in switching but am curious as to what is causing the overstimulation, what else are you taking with the curcumin?

Posted by Bugg (Member # 8095) on :

Not taking anything else with the curcumin....that's it...it is definitely just the curcumin...it feels like my brain is on steroids.... [Smile]

thanks so much for sending the articles, MarsyNY....

For IckyTicky and others who asked me to post...

It's now been almost 1 month on the Longvida Curcumin....I don't really have any "new findings/experiences" to report from my last post....

I still feel that it helps elevate my mood, helps with fatigue, helps with brain functioning/memory, helps with muscle pain/soreness....

I still have twitching, morning stiffnes, and muscle soreness and problems with stamina....The Longvida has not been some miracle cure that's eradicated these symptoms in a month....(though, I didn't expect this either)....

I've just noticed a "better level of living" with this supplement more than any other I've tried (I've tried other curcumin, NT Factor, wobenzyme, zyflamend, high dose fish oil, magnesium, coq10)....I have to say that I think my biggest obstacle after battling this disease for 5 years has been abating the "forest fire" of inflammation in my system....

Thus far, the Longvida seems to have helped more than anything else I've tried (just fyi, I've never taken steroids as I've been afraid of the consequences)....I wish I could take more than 2 pills a day as I might achieve a greater benefit..my brain just can't seem to handle more....

Hope this answers some questions....

Thanks much for this post. I'm always looking for something to try and help.

I haven't been on antibiotics for a couple years now and am self treating my remaining symptoms.

Something that I started taking recently for joint pain is cinnamon. It really helps.

I'll post the milligrams after I buy some more tomorrow.

Posted by Bugg (Member # 8095) on :

Aklnwlf-

What are your remaining symptoms? I'm interested in hearing about the cinnamon...thanks!

Posted by aklnwlf (Member # 5960) on :

Sleep issues, slight cognitive impairment, vision problems, headaches, some fatigue, joint problems, muscle atrophy, cns agitation, and maybe a few more that I can't recall at the moment.

I went through my LLMD's entire protocol and am supposed to be 'cured'.

Course I think my Bart treatment wasn't adequate and think that's what I'm dealing with.

I'm alot better than what I used to be but am nowhere near where I'd like to be.

Still am not able to work full time and have all the above remaining symptoms though they're not as bad.

Once I pick up that cinnamon tomorrow I'll post again and let you know all the other things I've been doing to kinda keep myself going on little resources and no LLMD treatment.

And again, thanks for the tip on the curcumin.

[hi]
