Hi
I am so glad I found this site. Even though I have finally been diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease, it seems apparent only to me (not any of the doctors I've seen) how long this has plagued me.

I am in my 3rd month of antibiotics, and still have some very bad days, and some bizarre symptoms!

I came across a site that suggests a 72 hour remedy of heavy salt and vitamin C intake, has anyone tried this?

I can email article if anyone is interested.

I am currently doing the salt/c protocol. There is no such thing that I know of that is a 72 hr remedy for Lyme disease.

I am on this protocol for over 3 yrs and have had great success with it. Check out

www.lymephotos.com

You can also go to lymestrategies because these are the people that do salt/c and other protocols and antibiotics

If there is a 72 hour cure, I'll swallow a whole bottle of Celtic sea salt!

Hi - I agree. I have done very well on it for the several months I was on it, along with rife treatment. I do get gasey from the vitamin c, so I laid off for the last month. It is highly effective for creating an environment that is bad for Bb. I read at some point that it actually does not promote the Bb to shift into the cystic form that they say abx do.

Well I knew that sounded too good to be true!

The protocol calls for working up to 8-12 g of both salt and Vit C, while drinking large quantities of water.

I may try it just to see cause I have not really had a Herx reaction with the antibiotics

Amy,

I hope I didn't mislead you about the salt/c being effective. It has saved my life. The advertisement about it being a remedy or cure in 72 hours is just not true.

Please read the lymephotos site that I posted above for further info. Everything pictured on lymephotos is what came pouring out of me. I use sea salt and vit c powder.

The best thing to do is ramp up slowly. I started with 1/4 tsp per day and ramped up according to how I was herxing. You might also want to check out lymestrategies because these are the people using salt/c.

Parasites and worms play a MAJOR part in Lyme disease and I also use antiparasitic herbs,

how does this work if you have high blood pressure?

Hi There,
Excess SODIUM can be very dangerous! SEA SALT has 2350 mg of Sodium in a teaspoon. The recommendation for sodium is 2400 mg daily.

Most people consume 4000 - 5000 mg of Sodium daily from diet alone. Any food label indicates the amount of sodium in the product and recommendation of less than 2400 mg daily.

Too much sodium CAN cause problems with fluid retention, electrolytes, heart and kidney problems, stroke, gastric cancer, high blood pressure and osteoporosis.

Anyone consuming excess sodium should be monitored by a health professional. I've been in touch with ILADS and they don't promote this regimen.

Table salt and processed salt in food is not good. Sea salt is in a highly charged state and is not static. It will not store in your kidneys but pass through you as natural salt is meant to.

If you are retaining salt it is most likey from processed salt and or your not drinking enough water.

Randibear,

you can join lymestrategies and get more info on the bp issues. These are the people doing salt/c and have more in depth info on this.

Also seekhelp has high bp and his Chiro suggested he take sea salt. Don't know if he is still on it or not.

A ND (naturopathic doctor) may also be able to give you more insight. By all means check with your doctor on this.

Dr. K. a renowned LLMD uses this protocol. I believe he pulses it. I am not telling anyone to do this protocol, just stating what has worked for me.

There is a lot of debate about the protocol, but many who have used it, swear by it.

I have done it w/my abx protocol w/my LLMd's blessing and monthly check on electrolytes, it did not move my sodium levels. It did create herxing.

Here is a bunch of info on it, including videos:

I have done it w/my abx protocol w/my LLMd's blessing and monthly check on electrolytes, it did not move my sodium levels and my blood pressure remained the same. If you do it, have these regularly checked. Also use pure sea salt with no anti-caking ingredients. Google sea salt, Himalayan salt is full of minerals and the best sea salt in my opinion.

Although it was not "the" answer for me, it did create herxing. I find sea salt to be soothing, it helps muscle cramps better than magnesium for me and I still use it from time to time.
