My regular doctor says I have a "borderline positive" result. The EIA result is positive and she says the Western Blot is negative, though when I look at it, it says IgM p23 AB. is "present. She put me on 3 weeks doxi. I have made an appt with a LLMD and since he is several states away, told me what tests to order ahead of time from Igenex. The doc's office said it was ok to be in antiobiotics when tested, but I have read that you should be off of it for a few weeks before testing. Any experience with this or opinions?

My lyme doc tested me through Igenex while I was on antibiotics.

I was positive for lyme, babesiosis, and bartonella.

Do what your doc said to do.

I would call or email Igenex and ask.

Lyme testing is like playing Russian roulette.

Some doc's may have their own take on it, some may say the results may be better if you are off ABX, others think it's better to do an ABX challenge and

I've heard some say that Igenex recommends that one stays off ABX before testing but no matter how you cut it the tests are unreliable.

It's usually hit or miss, whether or not testing is going to pick up the fact that you have lyme, if you are, indeed, infected. Testing for co infections seem to be just as unreliable.

But, there are Lyme specialty labs that will increase your chances of picking up whether or not you have it.

You are right Abxnomore. Well said. I do think Igenex may use a closer look at the migration of the antibodies than others.

I tested while on abx, and my Lyme test came out as --oh great, I just lost the word. Unequivocal? That doesn't sound right, but you know, the IND one.

I just wonder if it might have shown differently if I was off the abx.
