Hi Daniel,

I'd say speak with your doctor about your concerns. Everyone reacts differently.

Antibiotics definitely eliminate appetite--
I haven't had an appetite in 7 months.
Dizziness is common with some as well.

I've had vertigo and stomach issues from Tetracycline and Rifampin combination
(I attributed to the Riframpin, doctor to Tetra).

It took 1-1/2 months of taking the drug before all the side-effects appeared.

Doxycycline is a tetracycline drug and is associated with dizziness. Even with cranial pressure causing headaches, dizziness but also nausea and vomiting.

Anyway, I just started taking Factive.
I have concerns about it but mostly because of the Tendon issues associated with this class of drugs.

However, my doses are pulsed--
5 days on 320mg Factive
followed by 10 days off.
Not every day for weeks at a time.

Others may have experience with a different regimen but my understanding is that this drug is usually pulsed.

Also, I'm told while taking it, it's important to supplement with Magnesium. and of course, Probiotics and an anti-fungal like Nystatin.

good luck.

I don't know about the f. but those two antibiotics alone will make you herx very much. I would ask your doc. And you need something to prevent yeast.

The main problem to watch for with Factive is tendon damage.

I think either of the two other meds could be causing your symptoms.

The 3 meds at your doses is a very very powerful combo.

Hubby is only on 150 mg Mino -- took 1 1/2 years to get to this dose and the Factive he is pulsing 5 days on and 5 days off.

I would definitely ask your LLMD about decreasing your meds temporarily.

Call your doctor and let him/her know and see what they say.

I'm on my 3rd month of taking Factive everyday. I had a period of a few weeks was feeling terrible. Very tired, shakey and alot of anxiety. Also L leg and arm weak. LD had me stop F. for one week, didn't help.

I re-started it again and all my symptoms just went away after awhile. Have had no side effects from the Factive as of yet.

I just finished my second 5 day course of Factive. I do 5 days on and 25 days off and stop my Biaxin while on it. The day after stopping I developed dizziness and very off balance w/extreme spells of fatigue where I could honestly fall asleep standing up. Then the severe headaches started and then extreme stiffness and pain in my neck and back. I have a call in to my doctor right now about this and am waiting to hear back.
