For several months I've had leg pain from my groin to my knee in my inner thigh. I've been checked for blood clots but none found.

The pain has become extremely intense the past three days. It's a very dull pain and goes non stop. I used to get relief at night during rest but now it hurts even while I sleep.

Sometimes it feels like burning pain and other times it feels like muscle pain. Sometimes my skin feels like it has shingles in the area of leg pain, but I have no shingles or any sign of rash.

The doctors have all been puzzled and have no solutions. The recent doctor I went to suggested I see a neurologist as *thinks* it might be nerve related.

Unfortunately I cannot get in to see him for one month. The pain is so bad and now I can even get any rest because of the constant pain. I don't know how I'm going to tolerate it that long.

Has anyone experienced this? I don't even know it it's lyme related or not, but I am in so much pain I decide to post this here to see if anyone had an suggestions for me on what I might do to relieve the pain.

I've taken narcotics, aspirin, tylenol, aleve, motrin, etc. Nothing helps. I've tried ice and heat but all it does is distract from the pain and not relieve it.

I really need some relief. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Gary

Gary,

I know this is going to sound really strange, but by any chance have you had a yeast/candida issues? I have had the pain in my leg that you describe and what relieved it was planting probiotics from the bottom up.

I make a poultice with yogurt or kefir and add extra probiotics. I take a paper towel and put the poultice on the rectal area (generously) and sit down so it can coat the inside of the colon.

It always helps and I have no more pain there. Probiotics usually don't reach the lower/large intestine.

I also slap the poultice on my back to let it seep into my small intestine. You have nothing to lose and possibly a lot to gain.

The other thing that comes to mind is that your adrenals may be stressed. Taking pantothentic acid (b-5) which supports the adrenals is usually a big help. Hope this makes sense,

Gael

When I had lyme and had strange, severe pain, the only thing I found that helped it was Ultram.

This is a prescription painkiller. It works on the nervous system evidently, so that's why it works.

Any regular doc should be willing to give you a try-out prescription. Hope it gives you some relief.

My husband's aunt (not a lyme patient) had neuropathy in her legs, and her doc gave her Ultram to be taken every evening before bed. It helped her and let her sleep. So, that is more evidence that it is effective on pain that is nerve-based.

Since lyme is a disease of the nervous system, I suspect that your pain is lyme attacking some nerve in that area.

gwb have you done anything to get rid of parasites? That is also a possibility. Several like the leg bones.

Gael, that is indeed weird sounding putting something up my butt to get relief from leg pain. But hey, I'm desperate so I might give it a try. : )

TF, thanks for the information on Ultram. I will ask my doctor about this.

Pinelady, I went off antibiotics a month ago and am not doing much of anything at this time. I am trying to find a ND or someone to work with me so I can go the natural route. Just can't handle abx anymore.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Anyone else want to add their suggestions?

Lyrica can be helpful to manage nerve pain.

Eradicating Lyme & Viruses would be the best way to get rid of nerve pain, if they are the cause.

Gary-

Sorry you're hurting... I can completely sympathize with your pain...I've had a horrible time with pain in my legs....

I couldn't tell whether it was pain in the muscle or nerve-related....

I didn't want to take pain-killers as I was already fatigued and these just made me feel "more sedated"...

So, I have FINALLY found relief, after trying everything but prescription painkillers, by taking a VERY STRONG ANTI-INFLAMMATORY...

I truly believe that nerve inflammation from lyme, even post-treatment, is what causes so much suffering...

For me, nothing has helped with this nerve pain like Longvida Curcumin....Regular, over-the-counter curcumin IS NOT THE SAME....

Before I went to longvida.com and inquired about ordering this, you might try over-the-counter Zyflamend (found at Whole Foods) or wobenzyme....While these didn't help me and caused an upset stomach, they have given relief to many on this board....

Hang in there, Gary

that Longvida sounds very promising for inflammation and crosses the BBB.

Bugg... how long have you been taking it and what improvements have you seen?

IckyTicky--I started a thread on Longvida about a month ago...I'll find it and bring it to the top of Medical....

How can I get this Longvida? Is it available through the internet or only by rx or what?
