Can anyone recommend the best labs to test for co-infections?

We have already been diagnosed positive for lyme through Igenix.

I've been tested positive through AEL lab for HHV, EBV, and mycoplasma.

We would like to have the rest of the family tested for co-infections and wondered the best labs to use.

Our llmd. says the tests for bart and babs aren't all that dependable. Anyone have any advice?

Thanks.

HHV6 is one of the eight viruses in the herpes family. EBV or Epstien Barr virus is the virus responsible for the mono bug.

My llmd told me we can pick these up anywhere, not necessarily as a co-infection from a tick.

But having lyme messes up the immune system and can bring them to the surface.

I think I am stating all this correctly. If someone with more experience wants to chime in, please do!

They are both diagnosed through a blood test. I was just searching for the best labs for cos., since the rest of my family needs to be tested.

I know some labs are better than others for different tests. But I don't know which ones.

Llmd recommends anti-virals such as Valtrex to treat.

Thanks.

My now famous lyme doc uses Igenex for babesiosis and bartonella testing. He orders 2 different tests for each disease.

They found both babs and bart in me.

The reason the doctors say the tests aren't that dependable is because they only have tests for a few strains of each infection, and in the mean time, there are many strains of each.

In other words, better tests need developed. Still waiting for that to happen.

TF,

Seems like all we do is 'hurry up and wait' with this silly disease.

Am looking forward to the day when we have some definitive testing for all this.

Thank you for the information.

I want to do a new bartonella test this week.
Is Fry an option?
My last Fry was protozoa .
Does it make sense at this point to send to Fry?

Has anyone tested at this new online PRIVATE MD LABS?

Is Clongen good?

TF which are the two different bartonella tests?

I tested in January and at the same time at Fry and Igenex. Igenex showed nothing and Fry the protozoa.

kids llmd uses clongen i've been told....

heard good comments on fry lab and it's reasonable; igenex is MORE expensive.

if you are on medicare; about ALL is paid for except $50 plus !! they file the paperwork.

heard good comments on mdl in new jersey as well.

To KarenL,

I believe my doc ordered the Igenex panel #5020. See here:

http://igenex.com/files/PATIENT_TEST_REQUEST_FORM.pdf

It is the Babesia IgG & IgM and Fish. Then, just IgG and IgM for bart. Then Ehrlichia HME Panel and HGE Panel. Plus, he ordered the Stricker panel from LabCorp.

TF, thanks. They are all antibody tests. Do you know there is a bartonella PCR test at privateMD labs.com. I will check this out soon and then report.
My last Igenex did not show anything.
