OK. I am sick of being sick and it has been 4 mths.
in treatment and I am just sick of this. Nothing
is working right. I was better before I started the
meds. And wondering if anyone has been electrocuted
to kill the bugs? You know I think I would be
willing to try this instead of going through this
you know what.

Umm what... You talking about EST? - which used for treating drug resistant depression? I have no idea how it could possibly "kill bugs" but it has amazing potential to cause irreversible brain damage.

Well. Don't laugh. I thought of the electronic
mouse trap years ago! I think it is obtainable to
pulse the electricty thru the body without
causeing damage. Thus killing the bugs. I figure if
I'm destroying cells filled with bugs I may as
well get a bang for my buck. LOL

- Electroshock would make lyme worse. The spirochetes HATE vibration and would become very upset and spiral out of control, into protective cysts, anything to try to hide from the shocks.
The heat from EST could not be hot enough to kill spirochetes and not literally fry your brain tissue.
It would also fry your adrenal function. Perhaps even trigger diabetes if they mess with insulin as some treatments do.
And, as coltman says, and I also firmly believe, has high risk for permanent brain damage.
I know it was the older type but I saw the effects of EST in my aunt who was schizophrenic (or did she have lyme?). She was institutionalized her entire life as a zombie. Very sad.
I actually explored the newer EST techniques as as possibility for depression that the antidepressants just made worse (before I knew I had celiac and lyme).
Glad I did not go that route but psychiatrist was willing to. Avoiding gluten and getting some (albeit not enough) treatment for lyme helped lift depression.
I know you ask just about frying the spirochetes - or other infections - but it would likely make the situation far worse and could cause irreversible damage. ------
The radio wave frequency of rife has been a far better option for many.
The photon (Bio-something) from Germany, has helped some, too. -

Keebler your probably right. I would just make them
mad. Thanks for the links. I know this would have
to be done in the hospital setting as our
electrolytes are already screwed up with the loss
of cells in the treatment and I have read a little
about rife. But I think there may be more we could
do. Where did I put that 9 volt. Just kidding.

I dated somebody in college who had undergone electric shock therapy for depression. He had to relearn to read after the therapy. When you looked into his eyes, something was missing. I would never, ever, ever consider or recommend EST.

You may as well just grab an electric fence. At least it would not scramble your brain, and maybe it would have some effect?
It has been used to kill some pathogens, but I do not think any hard evidence of effectiveness is available.
I actually thought about those muscle stimulating electric things. you know, the ones you stick to you and it makes your muscles clench up?

I am thankful that I did not listen to the psychiatrists who tried to talk hubby into doing elctroshock therapy for his anxiety/depression which was undiagnosed Lyme and other tickborne illnesses.
If someone has a brain infection then I think that greatly increases the odds that such treatment would cause permanent damage.

Sorry. Dr. Burracano's guidelines instruct against electrical stimulation (as in P.T. treatments of muscles).
The physical therapy should involve massage, heat, ultrasound and simple range of motion exercises to relieve discomfort and promote better sleep and flexibility.
Ice (vasoconstriction) and electrical stimulation (muscle spasm and trauma) should not be used! . . . . -

I think the EST discussed is really ECT (electro convulsive therapy). Brain damage with the treatment could decrease awareness of just how sick one is. I don't see that as getting well.
Sometimes a person just has to be patient with taking antibiotics and assciated treatment. It often feels worse early in the treatment due to the herx, etc.
