Adult daughter had strong positive Lyme test. 6 months on abx with no effects for better or worse. Primarily bad arthritis symptoms, plus some neuro.

Has been off abx for a month, using a homeopathic remedy with mildly good results.

Today she reports onset of muscle twitches along the facial nerve (upper and lower jaw line) on the left side.

Once today she had a shooting pain behind her left eye, which could also be the facial nerve.

We can't reach her llmd til Monday at the earliest. Is this an emergency?

Should she go back on the abx, do you think, or can it wait til Monday or beyond?

I have had horrible pain in the eyes. So bad I couldn't move them side to side. The pain was UNBEARABLE, but it passed. I can't say if it is an emergency for you, but I have experienced it before.
Hope this helps.

c3, do you do anything for it? Does it go away on its own?

Does she have bell's palsy? Do you have a pediatrician you trust that you could call and run it by them?

Well, we don't know yet if it is Bell's palsy or not. Symptoms just arising now, and it's Friday night so we'll have to wait if she's to see her own llmd.

What treatment did you use CJNelson? I looked it up and saw Prednisone is used, but that's not a good idea with Lyme...

The muscle twitches may be a symptom of low magnesium.
The Lyme bacteria use up the magnesium in our cells.

Is she taking magnesium?

Yes Carol, thank you. She had all-over muscle twitches last winter, when she became acute, and they went away when she added magnesium.

Since this is such a specific location, we thought it might be something different, yet another a fun new problem for her to cope with.

I'll advise her to up the mag. anyway, and see if it helps.

What about taking things to reduce inflammation.

Pharmaceutical quality fish oil
Devil's Claw
Zyflammend
Serrapeptase
