I don't know if this is related to Lyme or not, but it's stopping me from treating the Lyme, and I know a lot of you have had gall bladder issues.
Had my GB out on 7/14/09, surgery went fine, they found a huge, 1-inch in diameter stone in there.
About 6 weeks later I had what felt like a gall bladder attack, but decided it must have been something I ate.
ALmost two weeks ago I had another one, and it was very severe and painful and lasted for days. I went back to my gastro, and he ordered an MRCP, which I had last week.
It showed a fluid buildup where my gall bladder used to be. I haven't been able to talk to him, but an assistant said he wants me to have a pipida scan to check for leaks in the biliary ductwork.
It sounds like this is getting serious, and I'm scared.
Plus, ever since I've been trying to treat the Lyme, I've had these horrid guts issues and haven't been able to stay on any abx for longer than a month.
And then when I was able to tolerate two at once, I had an absolutely terrifying reaction and am getting an EEG to check for seizures in a couple of weeks.
How do people deal with all this and still manage to work? If the seizures come back again (they did after the MRI, I think it stirred up the boogies), I can't work. If I can't work, I don't have insurance and I can't get treated.
Anyway - I"m trying to buck up, but I've been sick and sicker since last February and I'm just tired of it.

When are you having the new scan? I never heard of that one. I hope it is SOON!
I have trouble every time I take abx for something now. So I understand what you mean.

THank you for your support and responses on both threads. It helps a lot (as you know) to have someone on your side, so to speak.
New scan is tomorrow at 8 am, my boss is driving me (don't ever know when the "seizures" will hit and it's an hour away). The scary part is that I think I'm now at least somewhat hypoglycemic and I can't eat before the thing. So I'll probably be completely loopy by the end of it! Or else just horribly crabby.
Just had a long chat with an old boyfriend, who knows my health issues almost better than I do. It was very helpful - he helped me come up with a game plan.

never heard of the procedure you will be going thru.
it's user friendly; type in name of procedure or just use their A-Z directory and find the name of whatever.
it has lots of info to read and comprehend; hope it may help you until you talk to the dr. again.

I had my GB out in 2007, before all my Lyme crap started.
Before I had it out, I never had a classic GB attack, but I had a rough recovery, lots of pain (I had a 7 month old child at the time, so the no lifting for 6 weeks rule went out the window).
More than a year later (after I started having the Lyme sx), I started having what felt like a classic GB attack, with the right sided stomach pain that shot up into my shoulder.
Called the surgeon; he wouldn't even see me b/c he said pain should never come that far after surgery, so it must be something else.
He referred me to my gastro, who did the ultrasounds and stuff.
They found absolutely nothing, but at the time I was also losing a LOT of weight, so they kept monitoring me.
All in all, they never did find anything, but the pains have resolved since being on treatement.
I hope they figure out what's going on with you! It's so scary and frustrating not knowing.

I had the procedure this morning, and it was actually kind of interesting. I had to lay still for a long time, and the stuff they injected into me seems to have made me have D (don't know how to spell it), but it's gone now.
I think they saw something, I won't know for a day or two. The technician had the radiologist come in and look during the test, and I couldn't hear them talking, but the radiologist requested the tech to take a couple of different views.
He injected the radioactive stuff, and stuck me under a big machine that watched it go through my system. It went to the liver first, and you could see the shape of it. Then, the liver pushed the stuff into the digestive system, still glowing, so you could follow it through.
I saw a couple of places, one in particular where there was a pool of it, so I think I do have a leak.
Of course, now the question is what to do. My sister suggested Stop Leak! :)
But what do I know!
They said I could get a CD of it, which I will be requesting.

Go figure. The pipida scan I had the other day was normal, no evidence of biliary leakage, etc. I guess that's good; no surgery needed. Doesn't explain the stomach pain I had 2 weeks ago that was so sever.
Still don't know about the fluid, but it is evidently not a problem. I see the GI duck the 28th, hopefully he will have more info.
In the meantime, I'm goign to ask my LLMD about running some of the parasite drugs, and other things I can do to get my gut back in shape.

Are you eating a low fat diet? That should help. I would avoid dairy too.

I was told people who have pain post-gallbladder surgery are usually having spasms in their Sphincter of Odi. This can be controlled with anti-spasmodic medications.
However, I have gallbladder type pain that is actually pancreatitis. So keep an eye on it, and keep the fat intake really low.
