I have been on 3 different abx for the last 3 months. I know on my first dose of Doxy, I herxed the next day and for a few days that followed.

With Amox, no herx, now I have been on Ceftin and Biaxin since 10/20. At first I felt better, but when I added the Biaxin a day later, the bad burning pain came back with extreme fatigued. Needless to say that was a bad night. The next few days were better.

But today, my lower back, shins, my thighs both front and back and my hips are absolutely killing me. They ache so much. I keep having to fidget at my desk to get comfortable.

Is this a herx? Or are the abx not working? Or bringing out new symptoms?

My first herx was bad, but I never had the same type of herx where I knew it was a herx, since the Doxy. Now on the Ceftin and Biaxin, all new symptoms are appearing.

Any info much appreciated.

Yes this is herx. I herx in different ways all the time--different parts of the body, etc. Sounds like you are getting some results!!

kitty--are your herx reactions strong?

I read how some people here herx so bad they can't get out of bed. I was like that on my first dose of abx for like a day when finding out I had lyme, but after that they have never been like strong.

I can walk and stuff, but just sitting here the pain is annoying and hurts.

I guess my question is, what defines a herx? New symptoms are considered a herx?

Intensification of old symptoms or a bringing on of new Lyme symptoms can be part of a herx.

You never know what one will bring!!

Sounds like the Biaxin is a good one for you!

When I first began treatment with vantin--I was in bed for 3 months. Dizzy, weak, pain --but the pain appears in many forms and changes constantly--day by day. One day the head and ears, a week of terrible knee pain, all over flu like pain--you name it. Biaxin was added to my plate along with mepron--along with fluconozole--and now art. I am herxing now but can at least function at about 50%. Biaxin is a good booster for antibiotics.

Wherever you hurt is where the bugs are when you are killing them.

I herxed one day and my entire lower body was cramping, aching, excrutiating pain.

It was TERRIBLE. But I found some comfort in knowing I was stickin up my dukes against those little critters.

Haha yeah I do too.

The weird thing is the symptoms seem to be acting up during the early part of the day and then sometimes again at the end of the night.

I guess I am trying to apply logic to why certain things happen when, but I guess there really isnt an exact science to the timing of the herx other than the cycles.
