lightarfait posted this in another post:

"Marnie...If the mother has KPU...does she pass Porphoria genetically also to the child along with the pathogens and metals in the breast milk?

I wonder if our children do in fact have a fully functioning detox system at birth if the mother has these issues?

I am noticing this link in my extended family...lyme, autism, alzheimers, gout, auto immune diseases du jour. Parent to child! "

i have never heard gout mentioned in relation to lyme. have others seen this ? i am wondering about one family member who has it. he also had an instance of 24 hr paralysis as a child that was unexplained(must be a virus doc said-and he did have a dog that got the tick disease that paralyzes the back end)

and he has other subtle lyme sx but has never been tested or treated-and is in denyal and refusing to be tested.

Gout is now one of my problems possibly from taking asprin pretty much everyday?
I think the body deals with acids simply the easy ones first then the harder ones which causes the uric acids to build up especially if on high protein fat diet.

My father AND my mother had gout. Our dr said it was a rarity for women to have it and esp rare for a husband and wife to have it.

Well, guess what? Thirty-forty years later, I found out I had Lyme (forever) and realized my parents had it too.

My father was deceased by that time and we never tested my mother.

yes, my late dad was 80 yrs. UNDIAGNOSED LYME.

he had tremendous gout problems for 40 plus years among everything else wrong on so many complications from not being correctly diagnosed.

My intuition tells me that Gout is an underlying condition in some people, prior to lyme. It may be the opposite for some, where they acquire lyme first...then acquire Gout later or other immune dysfunctions.

But those I know that have Gout, had it for many years, way before the lyme symptoms developed. My husbands family: of 5 boys, 4 have Gout and their father has gout. Diagnosed when they were in their 20's. Now in their 50's.

These are people my vintage who have children now with either autism, lyme or other autoimmune conditions.

Interesting that this could possibly also be related to porphoria, that Dr.K. suggests most of his lyme patients have. (KPU)

Some in my family with Gout do not have lyme but have other auto-immune symptoms. It is an immume system problem.

I see a connection with underlying immune dysfunction in people who have chronic lyme. Not just gout...but other things as well.

I do not have Gout but have lupus...also an autoimmune problem.

I think Gout could develop for me in the future if I do not address the root of my immune problems.

The gout - lyme connection may be via vitamin D. Online sources indicate gout patients often have "low D" which probably means low 25D like most lymies. I did not find a reference for 1,25D levels, typically high in lymies.

DGUY-can you give me link or something-if he could type it out he might get his d tested

We need to address the root of the low D.
Not to rely on supplementation of D alone as that will not eliminate the low D problems we have.

It's the domino effect...one dysfunction leads to more. Would love targeted research on the autoimmune links we have.
