My husband had a midline put in on Oct 20th to admin. Tigecycline.
Everything was going great----feeling better each day, side effects minimal and improving--until Wham!! arm pain and clot diagnosed by ultrasound. The line was pulled in the ER yesterday. Heparin shots 2x per day.

He is on his way to a hematologist now (sent by llmd). All his pre-IV coagulation studies were normal.

I know some people use a peripheral line but Home infusion already gave a big NO to that. They recommend a PICC, but doc doesn't like em' (He is not a huge fan of IV to begin with).

Anybody have a clot once, had a line replaced and everything worked out? Are midlines more prone to clots? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm here in Illinois and hubby is a geographic bachelor in Ct so he can get this IV, and I am feeling helpless.
