although I did everything possible to avoid them (healthy & low-fat diet, Actigall, apple cider vinegar, castor oil packs, etc), I still developed multiple gallstones during my second round of Rocephin.
I refused to have the surgery and immediately stopped the Rocephin and tried to dissolve them naturally, but the GB attacks only got worse and worse and I ended up in the hospital last week. it was extremely inflamed and affecting the pancreas so I needed emergency surgery.
I've been on IV Zithromax for a couple weeks and not tolerating it as well.
So my question(s)...
Can you go back on Rocephin after getting the gallbladder out? has anyone had problems on it afterwards? if it's processed through the biliary system, can stones still develop in the bile ducts?
any input/experiences? thanks so much!

Gigi, thanks for the suggestion - I've been taking lots of digestive enzymes with extra lipase and eating lots of beets. my dr also suggested the bile salts which I have yet to add. so this looks like a very helpful supplement for me (and the countless others on here who have also unfortunately lost their gallbladders).
Cold Feet - if you google it, you can find some places that sell it directly to patients. I've used HealthDesigns.com before and although some of their prices aren't great, they do carry lots of supplements that you could usually only get through practitioners.

Liver makes bile. Gallbladder concentrates + stores bile.
Bile is for fat digestion, which as GiGi says, is ABSOLUTELY NEEDED for health.
A good source of bile salts is cholacol from Standard Process, available thru health pros only + G-A-S-P ! ! ! costs that incredible fee of.................TWELVE dollars !

any more replies regarding tolerating Rocephin after gallbladder surgery?
I've heard about a couple people who were fine on it, and another who developed serious gallbladder-like attacks (stones in bile ducts maybe?) so I'm confused whether it's safe or not to continue
