boy i am sick. if this is a herx, it's a herx from hell.

started out with a sore throat (which has now gotten better), a low grade fever (98 and i'm normally 96 to 97), chills (so bad i went to bed in the middle of the day with my clothes on and just shook), sort of dizzy or out of balance.

no appetite and moderate headache, lots of temple twitching, almost jerking.

but now i am having a terrible terrible chest cough. you know the ole whooping kind. nothing comes up tho, but my chest is very very sore.

and, yes, not to forget runny nose. it's gotten a little better but yesterday i sat with kleenex in my lap. it literally poured.

this is so strange. i've only been back on biaxin (250 once a day) and flagyl (250 once a day) for two days.

now the sore throat started before i started the meds on monday. i started the meds on wednesday.

please if anyone has had the flu, what were your symptoms? or if you've had a herx from hell, please let me know.

i'm getting kind of worried here.

I went through the same thing several weeks ago. I still don't know if it was a herx or flu. It started 1-2 days after starting my new abx. I had muscle aches, joint pain, chills, dizziness, fatigue, HORRIBLE headache, and a low grade fever on day two of only 99. I had very little coughing and was barely congested. I had NO sore throat. From what I've heard the flu usually comes with a high fever and alot of chest congestion. Neither I had, but my hubby had been sick with the flu several days prior. So who knows...

Whatever you have... i hope you feel better soon. Drink a lot of liquids and get some rest. Hang in there!

yeah, that sort of sounds like me, except for the chest stuff. ohhhh, i hurt.

i also feel like somebody is tearing all my joints out of place, especially my shoulders.

i know this may sound really strange, but i have a bad feeling about this flu. i haven't been this sick in years and my chest is killing me.

i'm truly scared. we have lost 8 adults here in tarrant county, fort worth area, and none had underlying conditions like me.

a lawyer in dallas had no health problems whatsoever.

well, it's in the Lord's hands. i'm supposed to go on that cruise next friday, but now i'm not so sure i should go.

mike will never understand if i don't go. this will be a real battle on my house now if i back out.

i don't know what's going to happen. i'm truly worried.

Swine flu = very high temps according to CDC materials (103+ deg), not 99 deg.

I personally started with wheezing one night (I am asthmatic but it was only symptom) then the next day I was completely congested Upper and Lower respiratory Infections. I called my doctor and was put on tami-flu which I personally think was a joke in addition to antibiotics. My fever did spike to 104 for several days. The cough you described was similar to mine. It was so severe I couldn't get air in between and it resembled whooping cough. I actually sprained my diaphragm to add to it all.

Of course since first getting sick in October, I'm still congested and not well and they decided for my asthma I needed the steroids which caused more problems with my nerves and DIDN'T help my lungs.

So basically... avoid all sick people!!! [Smile]

Not everyone gets a high fever with H1N1. My whole family has had it. My daughter had the test for H1N1 and was positive. Out of everyone that had it only two had high fevers and they had strep throat too.

Randibear, i'm worried about you. Were you able to go see a doctor today? Let someone listen to your lungs? I know that you are used to toughing out symptoms but chest pain is not something to ignore.

Please take care. I hope you feel better soon:)

Hi randibear, Listen the most important thing that you can do is to keep hydrated. Increase your fluids water, juices. Drink, drink, drink..

Sounds like the regular flu because you don't have the high temp.

My doctor friend says a major portion of flu deaths are from dehydration.

Uh, that sounds like the swine flu. You better check into your local emergency room asap. Pneumonia is what gets them afterwards. You need to be seen and IV'd so you don't get dehydrated.

I live in Chicagland, the Swine Flu capital of Illinois. I work in a school and there's several students who have been out with it. You have the symptoms.

Best wishes.

I had the flu about 2 months ago. I started with extreme body aches on a Sunday night. I continued to get worse with severe headaches, body aching, fever, congestion, etc. I didn't check my temp a lot. I know it was 102 at times. I also had a lot of sweating & cold periods.

My husband stayed home from work 3-4 days that week because I was so ill. I felt somewhat better in a week, but it was 2 weeks before I was over it.

I didn't realize how bad I was until I started to get better. There was 2-3 days that I don't remember much of the day.

randibear - Mucinex really helps get rid of congestion.

How are you doing, randi?? Worried about you!!

I highly recommend Tamiflu. My husband came home from a weekend away with the flu. My immune system is pretty bad but I didn't get sick at all.

Very sorry, randi. [Frown] Sure sounds like the flu to me; seems to go right into the chest for a lot of people.

Are you taking anything for it, like Oscillococcinum?

Hey, you've gotta get well so you can go on that cruise!

<<<<< Randibear Sis' >>>>>,

Are you feeling any better at all ???

Please go to a Doctor !!!

In 2000-2001 I had a flu bug, that I tried to get over myself w/o doctors help.

Started Christmas Eve, tho't I was getting better, even traveled some... that April.

[May] Mothers day 2;30 a.m , I had to go to the Hospital, I started coughing up blood.

Yes... it developed in to a pneumonia type situation ... took months to really get over it.

TxC's Mom died, and I couldn't go to her funeral to support and comfort ...couldn't travel from SE Idaho to Alabama, Dr. said NO!!!

Again,Please go to a Dr., I know the situation is difficult, and I know you are really really fatigued ,and discouraged.

I am praying for you,but please...Go to a Dr.

Hope your feeling better!! Stay on an antibiotic if you can. My family got secondary infections with the flu. I didn't feel good for three weeks after I got it.
