My wife has been having on again, off again, stomach problems, and I finally found out the cause.
After eliminating Lyme and H-pylori as a possible cause, I had to rethink the whole problem, and that led to the solution.
She had her Gallbladder removed many years ago and it is not something I have thought about much since. It appears that with age, her digestive function has decreased somewhat and the lack of Bile stored by the Gallbladder was the big player in all of this. The other problem is the Bile from the Liver that is unregulated and just randomly dumps into the Stomach whether needed or not.
By supplementing with digestive enzymes, the problem has been greatly reduced. She can eat normally again without much of a problem. To counter the Bile dumping problem I have bought some activated Charcoal. If she has problems in between meals she can use that to reduce the irritating effect of Bile on an empty stomach.
I thought this was an appropriate place to post this since many Lyme patients have had their Gallbladder removed due to extended antibiotic use. Also the fact that most doctors do not even mention the possible problems due to Gallbladder removal.

Thanks for the post.
Had my GB out before even having Lyme sx, and have had intermittent problems ever since.
Of course the docs say I'm crazy because having my GB out should have eliminated any problems.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But between abx treatment and the probiotic, my problems are much less frequent now.

I had someone tell me you grow a new gallbladder after the initial one is removed.

NO NEW ONES GROWN ! Only the liver can grow part of itself back !
Cannot digest fats well w/o it. As posted, digestive enzymes can help, especially with good amounts of lipase.
Concentrated oxbile can be helpful too - cholacol from Standard Process is one I have used (GB out at age 23 - 35 years ago).
Cell membranes are made from fats. 60% of YOUR brain is made from fats. 100% of Ducks brains are made from really cheap trans fats ! Posted by SunRa (Member # 3559) on :
thanks for posting this Dan. good timing as unfortunately I just had gallbladder surgery last week. my naturopath suggested taking bile salts as well as extra digestive enzymes (I already took them prior to the GB issues). Tyler/Integrative Therapeutics makes a good one w/ extra lipase. I'm hoping they help to avoid the chronic problems many seem to have after losing the GB. I'll keep the charcoal tip in mind too. I hope your wife starts feeling better soon!

How much lipase is "extra"? I'm having mine removed in 2 days.
