Hey All,

I was wondering if it is possible to herx an Hour after taking Doxy. (100 mg 2x day)

I feel OK after I wake up but an hour or so after I get to work I start having more and more pain.

It dosn't happen with my evening dose. Could it be from just sitting in my Office chair? I usually am laying down in the evening. (fatigue)

Happened to me!

200mg a day isn't much. I hope you have a good dr!!

Maybe there is something environmental at work or during your morning routine which is triggering your pain. You could try taking your morning dose of doxy at a different time and see if you're still reacting at the same time in the morning.

For some reason, the drive to and from work triggers my pain and that weird, weak feeling I get in my legs that makes me feel as though I will collapse. Not sure what that's all about...but I seldom get that feeling other times.

If this happens one hour after taking doxy, I would guess that its probably a side effect of the drug.

Joint pain and fatigue can be side effects of doxy.

Lyme literate MD's usually prescribe 200mg twice a day. Are you ramping up to a higher dose? [loco]

If you aren't seeing a LLMD I suggest posting in "seeking a doctor" for the names of some good lyme doctors in your area. [hi]

my llmd app. is not until the 21st of dec.

i have been trying to treat myself until i can get there.

i was taking up to 600mg a day but the pharmacy wont hear of it. they looked up the treatment for

lyme and it was 100mg 2x day for 1 month.
even with a Dr's Rx they would not fill it.

when I ran out my wife had a Rx for AMOX which i took for 14 days until i could get doxy re-filled.

i guess i will just wait until mon. to see what
LLMD says.

does anybody else have problems with pharmacy filling more than what is "recomended"?

thanks,

Hmmmm...I might give up the coffee. I know it's hard because it is so yummy but....it isn't the best thing to take your meds with.

I have a very hard time eating in the morning too but I force something down.

Good luck at your appt. It's coming up pretty quick.

Take care, kit

Wait a bloody minute! The PHARMACY is trying to tell you what meds you can and can't take?? That's illegal, I'm sure! They are practicing medicine without a license. Take the rx to a different pharmacy. Or just tell them that they aren't allowed to tell you what you can and can't take for what---outrageous! They aren't doctors.

It's not like you're trying to fill a forged rx for a controlled substance!

And, yes, don't take your meds on an empty stomach with coffee! Yikes, your poor system.

yep,
the pharmacy asked me what i was trying to treat,
looked it up on the computer and told me what the treatment was and wouldn't fill it.

Are you kidding me?

I would go back there and tell them that you are not asking their permission to fill the script but that the script is an order from the DOCTOR.

Pham.'s are not in the position to determine treatment and like runnigirl said that is practicing medicine without a license.

I would also call the doctor who perscribed it and let them know what the Pham. is doing.

That said....if all else fails just go to another Pharmacy..But really..that would infuriate me!!!! TG

I agree with Rumigirl and trigal2. Let your doctor know the pharmacy is denying your Rx. Also, take your Rx to a different pharmacy. This is outrageous!

Equally outrageous was our pharm tech's question to my husband, "I know it's none of my business, but what do you have wrong with you?" This after getting his Valtrex, Maladrone and Doxy prescriptions filled. When he told me, I was irate.

We are not obligated to tell them any of this and, in fact, I believe it is a violation of HIPPA privacy laws for them to even ask such a question--especially in public. If a diagnosis was required to fill a prescription, the doctor would have to provide one on the prescription.

What was the name of the pharmacy that refused to fill your Rx? You should seriously consider complaining to the company headquarters.

Man, I'm ticked off again!

it was Kroger and i'm going to give them one more chance with the LLMD Rx and then if they do

the same thing...S**T is going to hit the fan.

My LLMD told me to expect to herx within half an hour due to my high bacterial load. Boy.. was he right.

By the way... find a new pharmacy and sue that one. That's ILLEGAL

I started herxing within an hour of my first dose but I think if this is happening to you every day you need to eat breakfast!!! I could not tolerate doxy on an empty stomach as it gave me heartburn. Be careful you never lie down after taking it and stay out of the sun. I would be very angry with the pharmacy also -that is none of their business.
